George K. Carter

     George Kramer Carter, 77, died Friday, October 18, 2013, in National HealthCare in Murrells Inlet.
     Mr. Carter was born January 2, 1936, in Salters, SC, a son of the late Herbert Henry Carter, Sr. and Hattie Tarte Carter. Mr. Carter earned his degree in education from the University of South Carolina, and was a retired school teacher at Greeleyville Elementary school, where he was selected as teacher of the year in 1992. He was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.
     Surviving are: his brother, Hal (Lula) Carter of Lancaster; his sisters, Betty C. Phillips of Gillette, Wyoming and Lucy C. Huntz of Kingstree, and many nieces and nephews.
     Graveside funeral services will be 11 A.M. Monday, October 21, 2013, in Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
     Memorials may be made to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 305 Hampton Ave., Kingstree, SC 29556 or Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Alice Dukes, 2340 Manning Highway, Greeleyville, SC 29056.
