Albert Henry Jackson, 64, died October 1, 2014 at his home in Evans.

Known to his friends as “Al,” he was a funeral director for over 40 years, serving families in grief all over the Southeast. Al was born in 1949 in Miami, Florida to Mr. and Mrs. James Vernon Jackson. He was a graduate of Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in Louisville, Kentucky. After his career as a funeral director, he worked as a hospice chaplain and grief counselor.

Al was a lifelong Episcopalian, whose church home was Church of Our Savior in Martinez, where he was a current Vestry member and Education for Ministry (EfM) mentor. He served the wider Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Georgia as the Diocesan EfM Coordinator and as treasurer for the Cursillo program. He served as a spiritual confidante and mentor to many people. He also served his community as a board member of the Columbia County Eagle Scouts and the Richmond County Juvenile Court.

Above all, he loved his family, especially his wife of 45 years, Glenda Gail Jackson, and was most proud of his children and their spouses, Staci Shaddix and her husband Alan of Pell City, Alabama, Kelli Graham and her husband Simon of Edgefield, South Carolina, and the Reverend Jeff Jackson and his wife Molly of Hamilton, Georgia, and his ten grandchildren, Anna, Jackson, Tai, Haviland, Erica, Bronwyn, Bennett, Liam, Whitaker, and Grey.
