Funeral Services

     Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM, Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in Williamsburg Baptist Church, 8378 Hemingway Hwy, Kingstree, SC.  Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Williamsburg Baptist Church, c/o Merianne Cowley, 2111 Thurgood Marshall Hwy, Kingstree, South Carolina, 29556.

Catherine Tisdale Shaffer, 87, wife and beloved aunt, died at her residence after a short illness.

Mrs. Shaffer was born August 15, 1929, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of James Desmore and Gerdett Nesmith Tisdale. She was a 1948 graduate of Kingstree High School, a graduate of Keys Business College, Norfolk Virginia and a retired Administrative Assistant of the General Motors Acceptance Corporation, Alexandria, Virginia.

After living and working in Virginia for 30 years, Catherine retired in 1978, and returned home to Kingstree.  She spent the next 39 years devoting her time and energy to her church, home and family. She was a member of Williamsburg Baptist Church.

Mrs. Shaffer is survived by her husband, Charles L. “Verne” Shaffer of the home and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Pauline Tisdale Fields, two brothers, S. Leon Tisdale and D.D. Tisdale.
