Mrs. Gertrude Lutz Stewart, 90, widow of Sammie K. Stewart, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016, at her home in Kingstree.

     Mrs. Stewart was born January 8, 1926, in Germany, a daughter of the late Xaver Lutz and Kreszentia Lutz. She was a high school graduate and a home maker. Mrs. Gertrude enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, gardening, camping and was an avid animal lover.

     Surviving Mrs. Stewart is: her daughter, Sheila Stewart (Steven) Brown, of Kingstree; and her granddaughters, Sydney Brown (Jonathan) Daniels, of Coward; and Kayla Brown, of Kingstree.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Gertrude was preceded in death by a daughter, Belinda M. Stewart.

     Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, October 2, 2016, in First Free Will Baptist Church with a burial in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Stewart’s family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Tideland’s Community Hospice, 2591 North Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC 29440.
