Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, December 23, 2016, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Smith Cemetery.

Visitation

Mrs. Hardin’s family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Lily Eugenia Smith Hardin, 81, widow of Robert Loyd Hardin, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016, in Heritage Nursing Home in Florence.

Mrs. Hardin was born January 13, 1935, in Cades, SC, a daughter of the late Boyd Smith and Daisy Evans Smith. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School and Florence Nursing School and was retired from the USDA in Washington, DC. Mrs. Hardin was active in the PTA and the Boy Scouts of America while living in Washington, DC and northern Virginia. She hosted a Christian Radio Talk Show in Washington, DC and was very active in Asian Christian Ministries, bringing Asian students to America. She attended Assembly of God Church.

Surviving Mrs. Hardin are: her son, William “Bill” (Wendy) McCown, of Ruston, LA; 2 grandchildren, Gavin McCown and Quinton McCown; 2 sisters, Delma S. Brown, of Columbia, SC and Ina S. Miles, of Kingstree, SC; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband Robert, Mrs. Hardin was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia S. McCutcheon, and 3 brothers, Wesley, John and Garland Smith.
