Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Williamsburg Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Kingstree Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Kingstree

Johnnie Ruth Dennis Baylor, 94, widow of Atwood M. Baylor, died Sunday, November 17, 2019, in Williamsburg Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Baylor was born December 25, 1924, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late John W. and Ruth McElveen Dennis. Mrs. Johnnie Ruth was not just a homemaker, but the center of her family, her community, and her church. She was the first to operate a bean and pea sheller for the Kingstree folks and beyond. She did this for 15 years, sharing her love for people and good fresh vegetables with each customer. Mrs. Johnnie Ruth was the last living charter member of Second Baptist Church.
Surviving are: her daughter, Kathy Baylor (Francis) Godwin; grandson, Timothy (Marla) Godwin; granddaughter, Katelyn Godwin, all of Kingstree; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Johnnie Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Larry W. Baylor and a sister Nadine D. Greenlee.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Kathy and the rest of the family. I have fond memories of Mr. Atwood and Mrs. Johnnie Ruth from when I was a child. My fondest memories are when they let me come over and visit their horse Lady and I would sing to her.

To Kathy, Francis,Timothy &Katelyn, Our thoughts and prayers to you in the passing of Mrs. Johnnie Ruth We have many pleasant memories associated with our time in Kingstree, Many of those memories center aound the Bayor family. Mrs. Johnnie Ruth and Mr. Atwood were a match made in Heaven. She was the “Boss”” and a very good leader and provider in the home. She was always active in her church. To those under her care at home {Larry, Kathy &Mr. Atwood} she was their anchor. God rest her soul from life’s labors.
