Charles Victor Stoll, Jr., 70, husband of Deborah Mims Stoll, died Thursday, December 12, 2019, in MUSC in Charleston.
Mr. Stoll was born July 22, 1949, in Kingstree, a son of the late Charles Victor Stoll, Sr. and Georgie Elnita Yarbrough Stoll. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and Clemson University, where he received a BS in Electrical Engineering. He retired from Santee-Cooper after many successful years there and returned to his hometown of Kingstree. Charles was a perfect fit for retired life in Kingstree. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. He also loved the history here. He joined the Williamsburgh Historical Society and played a vital role there helping to set up the renovation of the Annex building. Charles enjoyed walking through our historical cemeteries here in Williamsburg County and often shared that love with others, giving “tours” through the more secluded ones. He frequently perused the SC Treasurer’s Unclaimed Funds list and assisted those who were listed there with getting their monies. Charles was an avid Clemson Tigers football fan and was so proud of their great success in recent years.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Debbie, are: a son, William Stoll of Georgetown; and a daughter, Alicia Stoll of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.

I am so sorry to hear this. Mr. Stoll was extremely helpful in my research for my upcoming book on the 1944 execution of George Stinney Jr. His grandfather was the judge. We last spoke about a month ago and also celebrated the recent success of our Clemson Tigers. He was a great man and someone I counted among my friends. He will certainly be missed. My deepest condolences go out to his family. God bless.
My precious family. I am here for you. God be with you all. I love you, Wanda Cottingham Lucas
Debbie, I was so sorry to hear of Charles’ passing. If there is anything you need you know where I am.
I remember when I was eight years old and I caught my first brand and Charles’s pond we also caught a bucket load more, skinned and scaled them. As well as deep-frying. These are the memories I will always remember from this so loving human being, with an open and free mind and soul. You will be deeply missed from everyone. Your family is in my prayers always. Lovingly Your Cousin,
Michael Grubbs
My sincerest condolences to Charles’ family and friends. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Debbie, Alicia and William my heart is broken over losing Charles. Not only was he my cousin he was a dear friend and my best partner in searching for ancestors. I’ve lost count of the cemeteries we explored. Most of the time it was pouring down rain and Charles always laughed that if we planned to go to be sure we had a umbrella. Charles and I shared a special membership in the “first cousins club.” Our grandparents, Judge Philip and Evelyn Stoll had eleven grandchildren and through the years all the first cousins had a special relationship.
Charles was kind and caring and was simply a good man, His parents would be so proud of the man he became. I know that all of you are so sad but he nurtured all of you so that together you will be able to live with the sadness of his passing.
I love all of you. Charlene Stoll Hale
I had the distinct honor of having him as a role model to follow when I was very young growing up in Kingstree having him as my neighbor. He and my older brother Don were best of friends and their projects in Charlie’s garage gave me many hours of pleasure and were probably the reason why I pursued an electrical engineering degree at Georgia Tech. He was a great man even as a young one , and I will always treasure the memories that he afforded me. Go Tigers!
Debbie, I am so sorry for your loss. Charles was such a kind and caring person. I enjoyed reconnecting with him at our 50th Class Reunion in 2017. You and your family are certainly in my thoughts and prayers!
My husband and I met Charles through our ancestry work. We grew to be the closest of friends over the last 15 years and grew to call each other sis and bro. We did several ancestry hunting trips. We are so devastated to lose him and will keep his treasured wife and children in our prayers.

So many childhood memories surrounding next door Charlie and big brother Don…. It was a pleasure to reconnect as adults when he and his family came to Atlanta. I am so sad to hear this news. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
…Fond memories of Kingstree….
I was so sorry to hear of Charles’s death. My thoughts and best wishes go to his family and friends.
