Mary Emma Cantley Brown, 90, widow of John Edward Brown, died March 14, 2021, in Carlyle Senior Care of Kingstree.

Mrs. Brown was born on November 5, 1930, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Marion Paul Cantley and Mavin Brown Cantley. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School, Flora- McDonald Girls College and received a master’s degree in Education. Mrs. Mary Emma taught at Williamsburg High School and Williamsburg Academy. After retirement she helped with Genealogy at the Williamsburg County Library. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church.

Surviving Mrs. Mary Emma are a son, John Edward “Johnny” Brown, Jr., of Kingstree; and a sister, Linda McLean, of Coward.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Marion Paul Cantley, Jr. and Johnny Cantley.

A memorial service will be held at 3PM Friday, March 19, 2021, in Kingstree Memorial Gardens.  Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
