Cheryl Smith Horton’s work here on earth is done. Surrounded by her family, she passed away peacefully on March 26, 2021 at the age of 66. She is already dearly missed.
Her steadfast and persistent love of Christ guided her through life’s difficult moments, creating a lasting impression on those who knew her. She was the best example of a Christian woman her children could have.
Born on her Daddy’s birthday, June 21, 1954, to parents William and Sara Smith, Cheryl was the youngest of three children. She loved singing, a chilled Pepsi-Cola and the local 4-H club. Her life was a master course of how to love others well: a career spent as a dedicated nurse, the repeated sacrifices she made for her children, the medical care of her father, father in law, mother and brother in times of illness and the joy of baby-sitting her precious grandsons.
Waiting patiently to be reunited with her are her husband, Mike, of Kingstree, SC; daughter, Michelle, of Tampa, FL; daughter, Christy, of Marietta, GA; son, Lee (Allison), of Lynchburg, SC; grandchildren, Michael, Gamble and the Horton twins; her mother, Sara, of Hebron, SC; a sister, Connie of Plano, TX, a sister-in-law, Pat and many nieces and nephews.
Excited to hug her again in heaven are her father, William, her brother, Ronald (Pat), and many family pets who she has been given strict instructions to hug.
A memorial service will be held 11 AM Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Kingstree Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Kingstree Presbyterian Church, 229 Sumter Hwy, Kingstree, SC 29556.

Mrs. Cheryl was one in a million. Her heart was pure as gold with a soul to match.
After the passing of my own parents, Mrs. Cheryl and Mr. Mike were always there for me and my children. There was never a time that I couldn’t just pick up the phone and she would always listen or give a shoulder to cry on if needed. Mrs. Cheryl was always there for anyone who needed help, a hug or simply a kind word or two.
When God called Mrs. Cheryl’s name He surely gained a beautiful soul with an angelic voice. Mrs. Cheryl will be dearly missed but we’ll never forget the wonderful and loving woman that touched our hearts. Again we are so very sorry for your family’s loss.

Sorry for your loss. Mrs Cheryl was a special lady and will be missed.
Connie,
It was so good seeing you at the restaurant this afternoon and hearing of Cheryl’s Heavenly Flight. A flight that was like no other. To be welcomed by Jesus and all of her earthly family and friends and her furry babies. I was delighted that Mrs. Sara is doing well, with all that she has been through and even her contagious smile remains the same.
I am sorry that I didn’t know. Please know that I empathize with you. My Love and prayers for my sweet Mrs. Sara. Make sure you gave her a hug for me.
Connie,
It was so good to see you this afternoon and was so sorry to hear of Cheryl’s passing. However, she has taken her final flight from this earth to Heaven. You know she was greeted by Jesus first of all and then their was her Dad and Ron awaiting her arrival. There was family Aunt Montee and Uncle Freddie and so many more loved ones there to greet her to welcome her home. I am sure those furry babies were there, too. Connie, you have my empathy and I know the pain Mike feels, having lost my husband and best friend 12 years ago. I can only sympathize with Sweet Mrs. Sara. I was glad to hear that she is doing very well for what she had been through. I love her so much and please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers now and I in the days to come. Don’t forget to give your Mom that “Big Hug ” for me
Connie,
It was really good seeing you this afternoon, but was so sorry to hear that Cheryl was no longer with us.
You all have my empathy and sympathy. Don’t forget to give your sweet Mom that Hug for me.
You will all be in my prayers now and in the days to come. Love You All So Much!
Mike and family …Kate and I are heart broken over the lost of your most loving wife….she was a student of my mothers long years ago and nothing gave me more pleasure than to spend a few moments with Cheryl to talk about those times gone bye…There was not a moment in all the years we have spent a few minutes together that you couldn’t feel her love and caring for all around her …and especially family…It was the high light of every Thanksgiving to spend those few moments with her…God has surely received another angel…Ralph and Kate
