So sorry to hear this sad news. He was such a nice gentleman. Prayers for his family and friends.

  3. Harry Singletary, Jr.

I worked at the SCDOT next door to Hazel. I was the Team leader of the Bridge Inspection Department. I have known Hazel the entire time he was over the Lab. We would make it a point to stop in to speak to each other nearly every day. Sometimes we spent more time talking than we should have. There were many days that a meal would be cooked in the Lab and Our office would be invited if we were in the office that day. I would see Hazel occasionally after our retirement and found him to be the same jovial friend that he had always been. Hazel was one of the good memories that I had of the SCDOT. I had him in my prayers every night, so I had him on my mind every day. I know that will still recall him in my memories and it will be with fondness when I do. My prayers and deepest sympathy go out to all of his family members. May GOD comfort you all in your time of sorrow.

  7. Gail Lilly Todd

I just found out of his passing. Hazel was my first boss with my first job right out of High School. We worked at a little coquina pit just off of Hwy 378 in the Conway SC area. He was the manager and I the scale house/office personnel. The coquina pit is now the site of baseball fields where my grandson played t-ball and baseball . Many times while watching my grandson’s games, I would think of Hazel and how we would have many stories to share when we ran into each other. He was a kind boss and gentleman of integrity. I always thought of him fondly and will always remember him as a great talker with interesting stories. My condolences to his family.
