Harvey Leonidas Grayson, Jr., of the Cedar Swamp Community, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022, at MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina at the age of 73. Leon is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Carolyn McCutcheon Grayson.

Leon was the son of Harvey Leonidas Grayson and Ruth Phillips Grayson, born on July 13, 1948, in Kingstree S.C.  He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and attended Florence Darlington Tech. Leon was a life-long member of Cedar Swamp UMC where he led the singing, was a Trustee, Lay Leader, member of the Pastor Parrish Relations Committee and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a member of the Kingstree National Guard.  His career was in Sales. After retiring, he began a Quail Preserve and European Style Pheasant Tower on his farm.  Leon was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fellowship with family and friends. He loved to cook for large crowds, and if you were not his friend before you came, you were when you left. Family and friends, God and Country were his life.

Surviving, in addition to his wife Carolyn, are his two children, BetC (Grier) Copeland of Kingstree, Bart (Carrie) Grayson of Georgetown, five grandchildren; Grayson, Carter, and Peyton Copeland, Jonathan and Stephen Grayson; his three siblings; Sarah V. Grayson of Litchfield, C. Allen Grayson of Kingstree, and Myra Grayson (Steve) Nuttall of Georgetown, and special cousin, Jimmy “Sam” Phillips of Kingstree.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Ruth Grayson.

Graveside funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Cedar Swamp Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00- 11:00 AM in Cedar Swamp UM Church.  The service will be officiated by Rev. Tommy Conway.
