Loretta Gause, 69, wife of Barney Jeremiah Gause, died Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at her home surrounded by her beloved family.
Mrs. Gause was born September 19, 1953, in Florence County, SC, a daughter of the late Cozart and Margarite Port Marlow. She retired, after 30 years, as the secretary of the cafeteria at Kingstree Elementary School. Loretta was a member of Kingstree Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving Mrs. Gause, in addition to her husband Barney, are: her children, Angela (Jamie) Altman, Travis (Audra) Gause, and Ryan Gause; grandchildren, Skyler, Waylon, and Ryder Altman, Gray Gause and another grandchild to be born in July; siblings, William (Sue) Marlow, Phillip (Lynn) Marlow, Althea (Thomas) Lockliear, Sherry Ferland, and Wanda (Gary) VanEssen; sister-in-law, Deloris Marlow; and honorary sister and brother Marie and Thomas Gause. In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by siblings, Jeanette Matthews, Billy Marlow, Jessi Marlow, and Tony Marlow.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Kingstree Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery in Kingstree, SC. Loretta’s family will greet friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at Williamsburg Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be David Gause, Brian Gause, Wayne Poston, Zac Arnold, Shaun Gause, Wayne Marlow, and Ron Feagin.

We are so sorry for your loss. May you feel God’s arms wrapped tightly around all of you.
Mrs. Gause was a very mild spirited person. Everytime I went into the cafeteria at Kingstree Elementary School she would always smile and speak. She treated all the students with dignity and respeck. We need more people like Mrs. Gause in our schools. You didn’t have wonder if she was a christian because her life and actions demonstrated her faith. Enjoyed working with Loretta for years. May God comfort you during this time.
I Debra worked with Loretta Gause for many years. Loretta was a sweet person to work with. She loved her job . She always made sure each child had lunch whether she paid for it . Loretta always treated everyone with respect. Loved everyone she came in contact with. The whole staff loved her at Kingstree Elementary School . S.I.P you’re gonna be missed but we loved you .
