Christina Sara Horton, daughter of Michael Lee Horton and the late Cheryl Smith Horton, passed away peacefully after a brief illness while surrounded by her family on February 15, 2023. Christina was 42 years old.
Christy was a graduate of Williamsburg Academy and received her Bachelor of Science in Graphic Communications from Clemson University. She was employed by Brooke and Whittle as a Prepress Lead. Christy also worked as a freelance graphic designer for her own company, Christy Horton Designs.
Christy’s heart was enormous and beautiful, and everyone who knew her could see her special light. Whether it was her love for her family, friends, animals, or the Lord – she gave it all and gave it abundantly. She was beyond thrilled to become an aunt to Michael, Gamble, Conyers, Kate Marie, Jack, Wyatt and Julia and they brought her so much joy. She was the proudest aunt and would tell everyone about them. Her parents, grandparents, siblings, friends and fur babies meant the world to her. She was incredibly talented, and her family and friends will always treasure the beautiful artwork, photography and hilariously creative gifts that she made for them over the years.
She is survived by her father, Michael Horton, Sr of Kingstree; her sister, Michelle Gall (Nathan) of Auburndale, FL; brother, Lee Horton (Allison) of Lynchburg, SC; Her nephews, Michael, Gamble, Conyers, Jack and Wyatt and nieces, Kate Marie and Julia; her grandmother, Sara Smith of Hebron, SC; and many other dear family members and friends.
Christy is now reunited in heaven with her mother, Cheryl Smith Horton, who was also her best friend, as well as her grandparents.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 18th at 2pm at Kingstree Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Today I heard the saddest news ever. Former House of Mews, volunteer graphic designer, Christy Horton (only 42yrs. old) suddenly passed away after a brief illness. Christy not only cared for our kitties one morning a week but created many of our past fundraiser mailout card designs when she lived in Memphis. She moved to Atlanta several years ago and continued to design our cards until I could find a volunteer locally who could do them. Christy was a wonderful, warm and kind person, we used to do lunch together at times and she will be very much missed by me and other volunteers she worked with. Christy had her own business called “Christy Horton Designs”. I know I will see you again someday Christy, we have to help take care of all the kitties up in heaven.

My heart breaks for the family and all those that love Christy. I will ask God to wrap his loving arms around you so that you will one day find peace. God bless you all.
We’re deeply saddened to hear this news. I remember
Christy with a smile that you just couldn’t buy, a wonderful, beautiful, loving person. I can still see her leaning her head back laughing out loud. I am so happy our path crossed.
Christy joined our small group at church, she expressed missing her Mom. She was a great encourager when my Mom passed.
We’re still in shock.
Lifting the entire family up in prayer.
Mr. Horton, Michelle and family thanks for sharing Christy with us. God Bless You May His Face Continue To Shine Upon You. Our condolences

I just found out ab Christy. I am so heartbroken. I haven’t seen her in a long while, but she was such a sweet person and friend. I am terribly sorry for your loss, I will keep you all in my prayers. I knew Christy from Fellowship Memphis (church). We had a brief time when we were in a girls small group together that we called “better than a steak, DTR.” She was a precious person and she made my wedding program in 3/2016. I am devastated to hear ab her passing.
