Clara Elizabeth “Betty” Richardson Tisdale, of Tampa, Florida, died on July 21, 2025, as a result of congestive heart failure. She was born on June 16, 1937, in Newport News, VA to William Albert Richardson and Mary Louise Solomon. She retired from federal service after 42 years on June 3, 2000. She served in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) from 1955 to 1960, with assignments to Anniston, AL, San Francisco, CA, and Heidelberg, GE. She was vocalist in the Pastels for 23 years. She also sang for a time with Ladies in Blue. Betty was a member of the Hyde Park United Methodist Church in Tampa and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Manhattan Ave. United Methodist Church and choir for many years, she was a member of the Women’s Army Corp (WAC) Veterans Association, Chapter #88, and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 109. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Thomas. She has three sons: Nev, Gregory, and William, a daughter-in-law, Linda and two grandchildren, Thomas James (Alicia) and Haley Danielle (Collin). She is also survived by younger half-brothers: Russee Parvin, San Luis Obispo, CA and James Parvin, League City, TX. and William Richardson, as well as numerous nieces. nephews, and cousins. She was loving wife, mother, and grandmother, had a rather bawdy sense of humor, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A Memorial Service for Betty will be held on Monday, August 25th at 11:00 a.m., at Hyde Park United Methodist Church, 500 W. Platt St. (Platt and Magnolia), Tampa, FL and a graveside committal service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Tisdale Cemetery, 615 Cemetery Road, Kingstree, SC.
