Memorial Service
Robert was born March 24, 1951, in Lake City, SC, the son of the late Bob Edward Thornhill and Reba Sauls Thornhill Keefe. He was a 1969 graduate of Kingstree High School and attended Palmer College in Charleston. Robert excelled in restaurant management and really enjoyed his years at Piccolo’s where he was a partner and later at his own restaurant, Robert’s Food and Spirits. Robert was also a former employee of Farmers Telephone Co-Op during his career. In later years, as his health declined, Robert enjoyed watching the old movies, especially Forrest Gump, Titanic, Mrs. Doubtfire, and anything on the CMT channel. He was a member of Kingstree Second Baptist Church.
Robert is survived by his sister, Nancy T. Wilkes of Kingstree, nieces, Casey Gause (C. Jolly) of York, SC, Jessica (James) Colton of Virginia Beach, VA, and Brittany (Kevin) Carmon of Kingstree. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a sister, Dottie Gause, a niece, Donna Wilkes Matthews, grandfather, J.E. Sauls and grandmother, Eva McGee Sauls.
There will be a memorial service for Robert at 3:30 PM, Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Kingstree Second Baptist Church. Online condolences may be sent to the family on the obituary page at www.WilliamsburgFuneralHome.com

I remember Robert being such a wonderful and caring person. He was always very helpful and fair.
He is going to be missed.
This news is just so sad …Robert because of his last name sat behind me throughout high school. And because of his close friendship with my brother, he became part of our family. He was at all of our family reunions and family celebrations. Our Mama thought of him as another Grandchild. I never heard him say a bad thing about anyone. He was devoted to my parents and he could do nothing wrong…Daddy loved teasing him about his lack of fishing abilities . Momma would light up when she saw him…. We went to our Prom together …What a pair we made! He made our lives so much fuller and his laugh is something I will never forget. May he find joy in being reunited with his Mother and his 4-legged babies…..Love and appreciation for having you in my life…
Nancy and Family, My prayers of comfort and peace during this difficult time. Robert was a good friend to all. 1969 Graduate KHS

Robert had a big heart. He never met a stranger. It seems like yesterday when Robert and I packed our bags heading off to college. Robert was a very special kind of a guy, fun loving, witty, and dedicated to his friends. He will be missed. Rest In Peace my friend!
