Mr. John Weldon “J.W.” Boyd, Jr., 86, husband of Hattie Mae Brown Boyd, passed away peacefully at his home after an illness.

     Mr. Boyd was born November 23, 1927, in White Oak, NC, a son of the late John Weldon Boyd, Sr. and Mary Bryan Boyd Smith. He was a graduate of Andrews High School, a farmer and retired as a USPS Rural Mail Carrier. He was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a Deacon and an Elder.

     Surviving, in addition to his wife of 66 years,  Hattie Mae, are: his son John W. (Martha) Boyd, III, of Hemingway; his daughter, Denise Boyd, of Moncks Corner; grandson, Caleb (Shanda) Boyd, of Johnsonville; great-grand daughter, Kassidy Denise Boyd, of Johnsonville; his brother, Charles (Vernon) Boyd, of Hartsville; and extended family, Matthew Britt, Hallie Sabb, and Susan Lee.

     Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 10, 2014, in Central Presbyterian Church, with burial in Spring Gulley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 at Williamsburg Funeral Home in Kingstree.
