Mary Belle Avant Small, 94, of the Suttons community, wife of the late Clifford Lee Small, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Small was born September 16, 1927, in Greeleyville, a daughter of the late Jerry Richard Avant and Tulie Jernigan Avant. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School and was a member of Suttons United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Small are: two sons, Brice (Dora) Small of Kingstree and Robert (Joyce) Small of Lexington; two grandsons, Clay and Cliff Small of Kingstree; and three step grandchildren, Tommy (Angie) Brown of Kingstree, Chris (Mandy) Brown of Kingstree, and Carla (Robbie) Smith of Turbeville.
“Miss Belle” was preceded in death by her siblings, Louise (George) Jost of California, Reuben (Penny) Avant of Sumter, Della (McQueen) Duke of Kingstree, Wallace (Ruth) Avant of Kingstree, Lizzie (Willie) Timmons of Kingstree, and Virginia Avant. Special thanks to her caregiver and friend, Pam Taylor.
