Funeral Services
The funeral will be held at Lane United Methodist Church, 33 Ravenel Avenue, Lane, SC, at 11 am on Friday, August 1, 2014, followed by interment at New Market Cemetery, Highway 375, Greeleyville, SC.
Visitation
The family will greet friends at 10:15 until the hour of the service at the church and then again following the committal service at the cemetery.

Eva Stack Shirer, widow of Francis M. Shirer Sr., died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Methodist Manor of the Pee Dee in Florence.
Mrs. Shirer was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and educator. She was born May 11, 1912, in Pinewood, SC, one of eleven children of Adolphus Stack and Maud Griffin Stack. She attended the public schools of Pinewood, and graduated from Columbia College in 1933. She married Francis Shirer on Dec. 23, 1942.
She taught in the schools of Turkey Creek, Lane, St. Stephen, Lancaster and Dillon, working many years at Williamsburg Elementary and ending her decades-long career at Andrews Christian School.
She was active in Lane Methodist Church as a Sunday school teacher, and president of the women’s circle. She was an accomplished baker, and enjoyed rose and vegetable gardening with her husband.
In her years as a resident of Methodist Manor, she enjoyed playing cards with her friends.
She is survived by two sisters, Jennie Willis of North Augusta, and Sadie Richardson of Sumter, a son, Francis M. Shirer Jr. of Lexington, a daughter, Margaret Cox of Florence, two grandchildren, Elizabeth Cox of Durham, NC, and Russell Cox of Hartsville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
