Funeral Services
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, September 8, 2023, at Piedmont Cemetery in Bishopville, SC.
Visitation
The family will receive friends from 11AM – 12PM Friday, September 8, 2023, at Williamsburg Funeral Home in Kingstree.
Gayle Hapeshis, widow of George Hapeshis, died on Monday September 4, 2023, at her home in Kingstree. Gayle was born in Hartsville, SC on June 23, 1950, to Ransie Colon Johnson and Ola Mae Edwards Johnson. She was a high school graduate, having attended Darlington and Florence County schools then later becoming a certified nursing assistant. Her life’s mission was being a mother and grandmother while graciously caring for others. She also worked at Belk in Kingstree and delighted in the opportunity to care for children and others in her community. She loved her neighbors and devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Spending time with her grandchildren was her favorite thing to do. Gayle was a member of Kingstree First Baptist Church .
Surviving are her children; daughter, Shelby Sutusky of Irmo, sons Philip Hapeshis (Marsha) Of Walhalla, Chris Hapeshis (Maggie) of Pawleys Island, Louis Hapeshis (Wendy) of Central, grandchildren; Jim and Georgia Kellahan, Stella Sutusky, Madison and Karsyn Hapeshis, Addy and Ava Hapeshis, Nicholas, Lauren, and Sydney Hapeshis and two sisters; Louise Dye and Melinda Gandy both of Hartsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, her brothers, Jimmy Johnson and Pete Johnson, sisters, Lois Boykin and Shelby Hall, and son in law, Stephen Sutusky.

I’m so sorry to hear this news. Your Mom will be missed. Anyone who knew her, knew of the love she had for her kids, grands & family, as she bragged on you all often, she was very proud of each of you. I loved your Mom, I always enjoyed the fun times spent with her. I am sure there is a grand reunion going on in Heaven right now, I can only imagine the conversations they are having…I will keep all of you in my thoughts & prayers 🙏🏻 Love you all!❤️
Shelby, my heart aches for the loss of your lovely mother! Gayle loved you and your children so very much, and I cannot even fathom the depth of loss you must feel..God bless you and keep you and comfort you with the promise of a joyous reunion one day.

Gayle we were all like sisters growing up so close but then we grow up get married and drift apart but I always loved you praying for your children and grandchildren lord please keep your hands on them and prayers for family and friends 💔

Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you say good bye to your momma. Gayle had a heart of gold, a strong mind set, and kept you on your toes. She will always be watching over you and her grand babies. You know she is happy being reunited with your dad after so many years of being apart.
