Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, July 21, 2025, at First Free Will Baptist Church, 2348 Sumter Highway, Kingstree, SC 29556, with burial to follow at Kingstree Memorial Gardens.
Visitation
Gene’s family will receive friends and family at the church beginning at 10:30 AM just prior to the service.

Gene Autry Jones, 87, lovingly known as “Gene, Gene, The Dancing Machine”, died Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Lake Marion Nursing Facility in Summerton, SC.
Gene was born November 30, 1937, in St. Matthews, SC, a son of the late Daniel Clarence Jones, Sr. and Mary Bell Bowers Jones. He was a long-time machine operator at Drexel Heritage Furniture Company and served in the SC National Guard. Gene was a faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with friends and his family, especially Patricia and Tammie, who he loved dearly. Gene loved his church, and he loved the Lord. He was a faithful servant of God.
Gene is survived by: a brother, Jack “J.C.” (Edna) Jones, Sr. of Paso Robles, CA; a sister Patricia J. (Jon) Andreas of Beaufort, SC; a niece who is more like a daughter, Tammie K. (Brooks) McCutchen of Kingstree; special niece, Taylor D. McCutchen and special nephew, Kelby Gunnar McCutchen, along with other nieces and nephews; special friend, Albert “Gabby” Galbreath, of Goat Island; and a long-time friend, Bitsey Fickling. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by brothers, Dan Jones, Jr. and Isaac Jones, Sr. and sisters, Dorothy Ann Jones and Chris Rogers.
Gene’s family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Agape Hospice and also the staff at Lake Marion Nursing Facility for their compassionate care.

    I thought of Mr Gene today and something told me to Google his name and I found that he passed this past summer. He was such a wonderful, kind and caring man. He loved to talk wrestling and singing with me at Mr Tommy’s/Wendell. He will surely be missed.
