Lois & Melissa,
So sorry for your loss. Although I did not know Allen as well as Montie, he was held in high esteem as a musician and a friend. A fact that you may not know, Allen played guitar at our wedding. Memories bring much comfort.
We are thinking of all of you with much love.
Len B. and Claire Hudson Gaskins

Allen was one of kindness people I’ve ever known…in Mr Eatmon’s History class he was like an encyclopedia… extremely smart and sooo talented. If we had more Allen’s in this world, what a peaceful and happy place it would be. I’ll miss u Allen…rest in peace.
Lois, Melissa and Family. What a shock to hear about Allen. I am so sorry for your loss . You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Love you all.
Jill,
So sorry to read about Allen. Thinking about you and the rest of his family.
Lois & Melissa,
Even though it’s been many years since we’ve seen each other, I still remember each of you. We were the neighborhood kids playing in each other’s backyards. Our moms were all friends and times were simple. I’m so sorry to hear that Allen has passed. He sounds like an amazing man. My sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.
I do not have the words to express my sorrow so I’ll just say thank you for your friendship. 🎸
Will definitely be missed by all in the Sumter community. Allen was very talented and a gentleman for sure. RIP Vootie!!!
Lois and family, we are so sorry about Allen. Our prayers are with all of you and we love all of you.
I was a friend and fan for close to 50 years. Many nights after playing we would talk music to sun came up. He played at my old place in Hemingway The A & J about once a month for maybe a year or better. I don’t need to know what VOOTLE means, but it meant something to Allen. We shared wonderful musical memories. He was a good soul. The older I get the harder this gets. What’s forever for? LOVE ALWAYS!
This news is so sad to my family. “Mr. Al” taught my son, Wesley, guitar for the past 6 years and my daughter, Samara, for the last year. He was super patient with him and they both enjoyed the time together each week. He was always helpful in picking out the right guitars for both of my kids. I loved chatting with him. When Wesley plays I know it makes Mr. Al happy. Our prayers are with you!
Lois, I am thinking of you . . .
We played music together 45 years ago. After many years apart we finally reconnected last year. I’m so glad we did get to talk and catch up on each other’s lives. Have nothing but respect for you. Rock on my friend.
I knew Allen back in the day at DSS. Sympathies to all.
Allen was a great friend of my brother Eddie Parker. They played music together many years. May they both RIP together playing music!
Hinnant Family, My prayers of comfort and peace go with you all today. Allen has left us, but he will always be in our hearts and memories. I am so glad we were able to attend The Class of 1969 Reunion. I was able to see so many of our classmates.
I worked with Allen at DSS and will always remember our travels to DSS offices throughout the state. My sympathies to the Hinnant family.
Lois, I am thinking of you and sending you my love.
I hadn’t seen Allen in years but always remembered our times as kids playing at each other’s houses while growing up in Kingstree! Many fond memories!!
My condolences to the family. He hired me to work at Williamsburg DSS. If it was not for him I don’t believe I would have gotten that opportunity. Thank you Allen!
