Funeral Services
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Spring Gulley Baptist Church, 2107 Hwy 521, Andrews, SC 29510 with burial in the church cemetery. Williamsburg County Fire Department members will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
Visitation
J.C.’s family will receive family and friends from 6 to 8 PM on Monday evening at Williamsburg Funeral Home.

John C. “J.C.” Taylor, 89, of the Spring Gulley community, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 12, 2026, after a lengthy illness.
J.C. was born March 9, 1936, in Cross, SC, a son of the late Murray Monroe Taylor and Cleo Rebecca Clarke Taylor. He was a retired veteran of the US Army, serving over 22 years. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star, received during one of his three tours in Vietnam. Prior to that, J.C. served with the United Nations Peacekeeping Task Force in Korea. J.C. was a dedicated firefighter also, serving Williamsburg County for over 30 years. He retired as a district chief and served as a Williamsburg County Fire Board member and served as chairman in the past. J.C. was a member of the American Legion, a former teacher at Williamsburg High School, and enjoyed gardening when he wasn’t teaching or fighting fires. He was a member of Spring Gulley Baptist Church.
Surviving J.C. are: his children, Gwen Taylor, John C. “Jack” Taylor, Jr., Carl (Leslie Alford) Taylor, Erica (Archie) Kennedy, and Emily (Karra Elam) Taylor; grandchildren, Samantha (Glenn) Alessandro, Jessica Thompson, Cathy Taylor, J.W. Taylor, Harley Taylor, Caitie (Jordan Oliver) Horton, and Madison Cantley; a number of much beloved great grandchildren; a brother, Ronnie (Edna) Taylor; 2 sisters, Neeley (Don) Ellison and Doreta Martin; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, J.C. was preceded in death by his wives, Lucile Hanna Taylor, Amanda Matter Taylor, and Roberta Nix Jones Taylor, and a brother, Murray Monroe Taylor, Jr. J.C.’s family would like to give special thanks to Jessica Lambert and Joseph Blake for their loving care of their father and grandfather.
