Funeral Services
Graveside funeral services will be 2 PM Monday, March 19, 2018, in Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 4501 SC Hwy 377, Salters, SC.
Visitation
John’s family will greet friends in the Martin Building of the church at one o’clock until time for the service, and at other times at Brandy’s home in Sumter.

John Gregory Buttermore, 67, died Thursday, March 15, 2018, in Kingstree.
John was born August 25, 1950, in Los Angeles County, CA, a son of the late Robert Lynn and Harriet Tuttle Buttermore. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and attended several colleges. John had been a sales associate at Alltel and was retired from The State newspaper. John started his career in media while in high school at WKSP-AM located in Kingstree at the time. Working here for ten years, John got the opportunity to meet a lot of famous people in the music profession and make many good friends. He had that great love for music- especially Beach Music and shagging along to the music was the best! John loved golfing and enjoyed participating in North American Hunting Retriever Assn. field trials with his Black Lab Splash. John was a member of Union Presbyterian Church.
Surviving John are: his daughter, Brandy Buttermore Stevens and her husband, Denny Stevens, of Sumter; 2 sons, Greg Buttermore, of Sumter and Chris Harrington, of Graham, NC; sister, Joan (Keith) Stuckey, of Lexington; brother, Roger Buttermore, of Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a very special friend, Cheryl Ann Ivey.

John was a great friend to everyone. He always a smile for anyone that came in contact with him. I wish all of you the Blessings of God’s comfort in this time in your lives. Praying for you all.

Was sorry to hear about the loss of John. Will always remember his singing and especially “96 Tears”. Rest in peace. My condolences to his family and friends.
