Juanita Elizabeth “Maga” Dukes Thompson, 77, wife of Franklin Thompson, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2020, at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center.
Juanita was born April 26, 1943, in Greeleyville, SC, a daughter of the late Weekus Stokes Dukes and Mary Alice Timmons Dukes. She was a graduate of Greeleyville High School and worked at Baxter’s Travenol Laboratories. Juanita was known for her famous cake squares, she enjoyed baking cakes for everyone in the community. She was an avid Carolina Gamecock fan and loved planting flowers. Juanita was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, and was in charge of Sunday School attendance.
Survivors are: her husband, Franklin Thompson, of Kingstree; a daughter, Sandy Fowler, of Simpsonville; a son, Greg (Kim) Thompson, of Lake City; four beloved grandchildren, Matthew Fowler, Jordan Fowler, Elizabeth Thompson, and Leann Thompson; a brother, Grady Dukes, of Little Mountain; and a sister, Mary Ellen Oliver, of Greeleyville. In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by a grandson, Quentin Thompson; and five siblings, Wheeler Dukes, James Dukes, Marbeth Cain, Carey Dukes, and Azalee Brown.

Maga was a generous and wonderful lady. She will be missed in many ways.
So sorry for the loss of this dear lady. She meant a lot to many in all kind of ways. She was special and may she now RIP. Prayers for the entire family.

So sad to hear about Mrs Juanita. She was a very special lady. I remember our trips to the beach and coming over to play. I loved all of her cooking and still got all my cakes from her. She will be missed. Sending prayers to you all.

Aunt Juanita will surely be missed so much. I remember our fun conversations and giggles we shared, her wonderful cooking, and her love for the Gamecocks. She was so special. I pray for Uncle Franklin, Sandy, Greg and her entire family and friends. God gained a special angel.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I have wonderful memories of Juanita from when I used to hang out with her nieces in high school and when we were in church together. She was always so full of life. My condolences to you all.
