Judith “Judy” Bamburg Schartenberg, widow of Kurt E. Schartenberg, died peacefully June 15, 2025, at The Landings of Georgetown assisted by Patriot Hospice.
Ms. Schartenberg was born August 22, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, the only child and daughter of the late Joel and Adele Gould Bamburg. Judy was a graduate of Michigan State. She retired in 2003 from The Cove School in Northbrook, Illinois and moved to Kingstree, SC to be near family friends.
She attended St. Alban’s Episcopal Church and later Union Presbyterian Church.
Judy loved shopping and especially buying clothes and shoes to wear on her many places of worldwide travel. Besides reading, she also enjoyed playing bridge.
She is survived by a special friend, Diane Gilman Boyd, whose grandmother and Judy’s mother were best friends in Chicago in the 1920’s .
A heartfelt thanks goes out to the staff at The Landings of Georgetown for their loving care of Judy and also to Patriot Hospice who helped her in her final days. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, Illinois.
