Mr. Johnson’s family will greet friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday in Williamsburg Funeral Home in Kingstree.
Laurie Gary Johnson, 85, husband of Annie Barfield Johnson, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 6, 2017, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Laurie was born in Columbia, SC on September 23, 1931, a son of the late James N. Johnson and Elendor Bradshaw Johnson. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1951, and worked at Georgia Pacific and Koppers Company. He was a farmer and a member of Union Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a brother Lynwood Johnson and a sister Georgie George.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 64 years, Annie Johnson, of Salters, are: five sons, Gary (Tecey) Johnson, of Columbia, Wayne (Debbie) Johnson, of Manning, and Jimmy “J.J.” (Susan) Johnson, Ronnie (Gayle) Johnson, and Dennis (Pam) Johnson, all of Salters; a brother, Jason Johnson, of Columbia; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in Union Presbyterian Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Johnson’s family will greet friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday in Williamsburg Funeral Home in Kingstree.
