Funeral Services
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 51 Senior Road, Kingstree, SC 29556.
Visitation
Lori’s family will receive guests at the Kingdom Hall beginning at 12 noon just prior to the funeral service. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 11 AM to 4 PM.
Lori Lynn Weddle Brown, 53, beloved wife of Sammie L. Brown Jr., died Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lori was born May 9, 1972, in Richmond, Indiana, a daughter of the late Sandra L. Kalish Weddle and Jerry Neal Weddle. She was a graduate of Richmond High School and attended Williamsburg Technical College. Lori was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was a friend to all and well known and loved throughout the community especially through her jobs at NanYa, Dollar General and Republic Services. Lori enjoyed volleyball and basketball, but her heart belonged to the University of South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team. She attended games regularly and followed them on television during her illness.
In addition to Sammie, her beloved husband of 33 years, of Kingstree, Lori is survived by: two sons she adored, Alexander Brown and Trey Brown, both of Columbia; a cherished daughter, Shantoria (Rondrick) Brown of Orangeburg; a grandchild she looked forward to spoiling, Nasir O’shay Brown; beloved sisters, Lisa (Scott) Lewis, Lacinda Reed and Jenny (Dustin) Mullins all of Richmond, IN, and Carol Ciesielski of South Bend, IN; a special aunt, Vernell Williams; a special sister-in-law, Myera (Trevor) Thompson; and a special adopted mom, Harold Witherspoon.. In addition to her beloved parents, Lori was preceded in death by; a treasured daughter, Carissa Jo Weddle; a dear sister, Raylena Hughes; a dear brother, Ronnie Lewis; and beloved grandparents, Martha A. Kalish and Joseph P. Kalish.
