Rhonda McCants Ward, 39, of Kingstree, SC, wife of Johnny H. Ward, Jr., passed away October 28, 2015, at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown, SC. Despite battling Triple Negative Breast Cancer for one year, Rhonda’s cheerfulness, spirit, and spunk never faltered. Mrs. Ward was born December 22, 1975, in Georgetown, SC, a daughter of Michael McCants and the late Ann Jenell Singleton. She was a graduate of Georgetown High School and was employed by Whetstone, Perkins, and Fulda Law Office. Rhonda attended Kingstree First Baptist Church and was very active in the Williamsburg Academy Parent Teacher Organization for many years. Everyone who knew Rhonda could attest to her beauty, courage, and her love for her boys.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 20 years, Johnny Ward, are: her sons, Johnny H. “Tripp” Ward, III, Tate, Teague, and Tanner Grey Ward, all of Kingstree; her father and step mother, Mike and Carla McCants, of Murrells Inlet; her grandmother, Annie Laura McCants, of Georgetown; a sister, Angela (Darrell) Gibson, of Sampit; brother, David (Renee) McCants, of Georgetown; step brother, Robert Orr, of Murrells Inlet; and a very special “Granny”, Diane Graham, of Kingstree. Rhonda had many cousins, nieces and nephews who were special to her. In addition to her mother, Rhonda was preceded in death by her grandfather, Olin J. McCants and maternal grandparents Harry Singleton and Virginia Singleton.

We are saddened by the loss of Rhonda. She fought hard and always had a smile or a kind word. Our prayers are with Johnny, her boys, and her family.
My condolences to the family. I am a breast cancer survivor ,1 year and 2 months. I feel guilty when someone loses the battle to cancer but I am determined to spread awareness until my time on this earth is done. God bless!
