Funeral Services
Funeral services for Robert will be held at 2 PM, Monday, March 17, 2025, at Williamsburg Funeral Home in Kingstree, SC, with burial in Williamsburg Cemetery.
Visitation
Robert’s family will greet friends and family from 1 to 2 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Robert Bailey Ward, 91, husband of Gail Cauthen Ward, died March 10, 2025, in Garden City, SC
Robert was born in Reidsville, NC on October 6, 1933, a son of the late Robert Luke Ward and Clarise Bailey Carter Ward. He spent his childhood years in Williamsburg County in the Cedar Swamp community which he loved dearly. Upon graduation From Kingstree High School, he joined The United States Air Force and served in the intelligence field.
He retired from the federal government after 37 years of combined military and civilian service. He commuted between Maryland and Kingstree from 1993 to 2000 when he permanently made Kingstree his home and enjoyed working for friends, Al Atkinson , Ron Feagin and Gus at A&R Auto Rebuilders. He enjoyed breakfast at Bo-Bo’s and meals at other Kingstree eateries. He always enjoyed talking with friends he grew up with and reminiscing about the good old days. Robert was raised in a generation when if something breaks, you don’t throw it away, you fix it.
The hobbies he enjoyed were being a certified Ham radio operator and a registered SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) member. He pitted for a friend Datsun driver and enjoyed many years of traveling with the sports car group. He was also a member of The Moose.
In addition to Gail, his wife of 68 years, Robert is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Ward (Richard) Kunkle of Garden City; a son, James Robert (Linda) Ward of Conway; a grandson, Philip (Kara) Ward of Arnold, MD; and great granddaughter, Amelia whose pictures of her dancing talent he proudly loved to show; a brother, George H. Ward of Manning, SC; and a sister, Nan Simpson of Alpharetta, GA. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a half-brother, Samuel Carter.

Mrs. Ward and family I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Robert’s passing. He was such a sweet soul. We have missed you both at the Moose Lodge. Prayers for you and your family to fine peace in the wonderful memories you have.
