Ruth Duke Cook

Mrs. Ruth Duke Cook, 94, widow of James Cook, passed away Sunday November 23, 2014, in Williamsburg Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Cook was born September 10, 1920, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Benjamin Duke and Hettie Henderson Duke. She was a homemaker and a former member of Hebron United Methodist Church, where she was the pianist for many years. She also played the piano for numerous other churches over the years. She was a member of Mouzon Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Cook is survived by 4 sons, Gerald (Pat) Cook, of Myrtle Creek, OR, Ronald (Diane) Cook, of Ladson, SC and Raymond (Michele) Cook and Tony (Jodie) Cook, both of Kingstree; 1 daughter, Judy C. (John) Owens, of Charleston, SC; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; 1 brother, Joel (Bess) Duke; and 2 sisters-in-law, Joy Duke and Mary Alice McCaslin. In addition to her parents and second husband, Mrs Cook was preceded in death by her first husband Cecil Cook; three brothers, Kenneth, Lamar, and Robert Duke; and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 26, 2014, in the chapel at Williamsburg Funeral Home, with burial in Mouzon Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Mrs. Cook’s family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mouzon Presbyterian Church, c/o Jeanette Duke, 2281 Sumter Highway, Kingstree, SC 29556.
