The funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Union Presbyterian Church, 4501 SC Highway 377, Salters, SC, followed by the committal service in the church cemetery.
Visitation
. Sammy’s family will receive friends and family in the Martin Building at the church immediately following the committal service.

Samuel Mayes Pringle, Jr., age 84, husband of Brenda Boyd Pringle, died April 19, 2025, at his home in Surfside Beach, SC after a brief illness.

Sammy’s family will receive friends and family in the Martin Building at the church immediately following the committal service.
Sammy was born January 8, 1941, in Alcolu, SC, a son of the late Samuel Mayes Pringle, Sr. and Mildred Elizabeth Kennedy Pringle. He graduated from Edmunds High School in Sumter, SC in 1959, and completed his education in 1963, graduating from The University of South Carolina, College of Pharmacy, in Columbia, SC.
He spent his life as a pharmacist in the following SC towns: Manning, Sumter, Clinton, Florence, Kingstree, Pawleys Island, Surfside Beach and Garden City, retiring in 2020. He loved pharmacy and was well respected in his profession. Family gatherings were his passion, whether taking a family trip, getting together for special occasions, or simply meeting for a meal. One of his favorite memories that he spoke of often was eating lunch on the rocks along the mountain streams in North Carolina. He spent his leisure time as an avid fan of the University of SC Gamecocks, the Atlanta Braves, and the Boston Red Sox.
Sammy was very dedicated and devoted to his family, which was of the utmost importance to him. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Brenda, as well as his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They have three daughters: Cassandra Gamble Smith (Steve), Debbie Pringle Buford (Tony), Lisa Gamble Smith (Lewis), and their son, Samuel Boyd Pringle. There are four granddaughters: Kerri Cassandra Smith Oates (Bentley), Merrit Mayes Smith Yahnis (Charles), Lisa Marlena “Marley” Smith Carlton (Lucas), and Lillian Taylor Pringle Helms (Christan) and one grandson, Winston Brooks “Winn” Smith. The family also includes one great-granddaughter and four great-grandsons. Sammy has one brother, Charles Gary Pringle (Dolores) of Summerville, SC, as well as one niece, two nephews, two great nieces and one great nephew. He will be missed by his beloved Shih tzu, Marshall.
