Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Williamsburg Funeral Home, with burial in Sandy Bay Cemetery. Sandy’s family will greet friends at the funeral home from 12 to 1:30 PM just before the service.

Sandy Marie Stone Powell passed away at home Monday, June 28, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Powell was born September 29, 1956, in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late McIver and Bobbie Jean Martin Stone. She was married to Hartley Leland Powell, Jr. for 46 years. Sandy worked at W.M. Anderson Primary for 28 years, where she taught reading and math and was the director of the Afterschool and Summer programs. She was a faithful member of the Kingstree Church of God, where she was a former treasurer and Sunday School secretary. Sandy enjoyed travelling, cooking, reading, and decorating.
Surviving Mrs. Powell, in addition to her husband Leland, are: daughter, LeAnne Duckett (Jeremiah Burdette); son, Justin Powell (Gina McKenzie); grandchildren, Connor Duckett, Mack McKenzie, and Hunter and Caroline Chandler; brother, Randy (Cathy) Stone; nieces and nephews, Tonya, Jason, Matthew, Amanda, David, Jason, Neil, Caroline, Brooks, Kathy, Tracy, and Kayla; family friend, Ruth Shaw; and loyal companion, Piper La’Rue “Boop”. In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Katelyn Marisa Powell. Sandy’s family would like to thank the staff at Amedisys Hospice for their loving care of Sandy during her final days.

I am so sorry for your loss, but so happy for Sandy. She had an infectious laugh that made you laugh with her. She loved her Lord and was faithful to her church as long as she was able. I pray for strength and comfort for her family. May God wrap you in His love.

Sandy was an Angel Walking Among Us. She would brighten anyone’s day the minute she would walk into a room. She Selflessly gave everything to her Family and to her Anderson Primary School Family, as well.
She Loved Each One ! She has gone home to be with the Lord and her Heavenly Family now…she will be missed terribly, but I’m sure the Lord is saying, ” Well Done Thy Good and Faithful Servant.” We Love You Sandy !💞

I remember you during my time at WM Anderson Primary, as a student and as a teacher. You were always the same and always put the children’s interests first. Take your rest!!
