Shirley Jean Floyd Blackburn, 58, wife of Jeffrey Keith Blackburn, died Friday, November 20, 2020, at her home in Kingstree.
Mrs. Blackburn was born September 11, 1962, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Delynn and Louise Godwin Floyd. She was a graduate of Kingstree Senior High School. For several years “Miss Shirley” was the operator of Jack and Jill Daycare and was much beloved by many, many children and parents too. After Jack and Jill closed, Miss Shirley continued to keep children at her home. In 2016, she became the 5K assistant, substitute teacher, and operated the daycare at Williamsburg Academy, where she continued to make a difference in the lives of community children. She was a member of Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she taught Sunday school.
Surviving Mrs. Blackburn in addition to her husband Jeff, are: three children, Tracy (Bill) Price of Cades, SC, Nancy (Travis) McKnight of Kingstree, and Jamie (Megan) Blackburn of Kingstree; seven grandchildren, Billy Price, Bryce Blackburn, Mary Hannah Price, McCoy Blackburn, Avie Lee McKnight, Colby Blackburn, and Catherine Reeves Blackburn; seven sisters; and one brother.
Graveside funeral services will be 3:30 PM Sunday, November 22, 2020, in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Blackburn family. Shirley will be missed, not only by those who knew her as children, but also by those of us who knew her as adults. she was and will continue to be much loved by members of her community and her church.
