William Corneilous “Neil” Cantey, 58, husband of Jade Hardee Cantey, died Friday, May 2, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC, surrounded by his beloved family.
Mr. Cantey was born April 29, 1967, in Kingstree, SC, a son of the late William Corneilous Cantey, II and Sandra McKenzie Cantey. He was a graduate of Kingstree Senior High School. Neil was a tank welder and inspector for T&M Transfer for 24 years. He was lovingly known as “Neil the Wheel” by his family and friends. Neil was a “Jack-of-All-Trades” and was a perfectionist in all his work, especially caring for his truck and yard. Neil loved his family above all. He was a very charitable man and enjoyed helping friends with whatever they needed; without charging a dime. Some say if he didn’t make his daily trip to Johnny Boy’s, they may not be in business right now. Neil delighted in looking at classic cars and appreciated NASCAR racing. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing in his cherished home of Williamsburg County and loved listening to 70s music with the sound blasting. Neil loved his wife’s cooking and bragged on her daily. He was a member of Kingstree First Assembly, where he sat on the front row every Sunday watching his wife sing and clapping for her.
Mr. Cantey is survived by: his wife of 27 years, Jade; sons, Bill (Annie) Cantey of Arizona and Brock (Jayden Hayden) Cantey, of Turbeville; daughters, Doty Cantey and Madison Cantey (Dario) Flores, both of Florence; step-son, Kyle Newton of Sumter; step-granddaughters, Avery and Kylie; step-grandson, Wyatt; grandson, Samuel Nathan Flores; a sister-in-law, Beth (Ricky) Poston of Andrews; a sister, Teri Ward of Greeleyville; nieces, Billie Ann Patrick and McKenzie (Wyatt) Morris; and nephews, Drake Patrick, Lajoe (Cameron) Ward and Richie (Kateland) Poston. In addition to his parents, Neil was preceded in death by a sister, Patti Patrick, and 2 brothers-in-law, David Patrick and Chris Ward.
Funeral services will be held at 5 PM, Monday, May 5, 2025, at Kingstree First Assembly, 872 Sumter Highway, Kingstree, SC 29556. Mr. Cantey’s family will receive friends and family at the church beginning at 4 PM prior to the service. Burial will be private.
Memorials may be sent to Kingstree First Assembly, 872 Sumter Highway, Kingstree, SC 29556. Online condolences may be sent to the family on the obituary page of our web site, www.WilliamsburgFuneralHome.com.
