    James Willie Thompson, 82, widower of Mary “Polly” Johnson Thompson, died Sunday, February 2, 2014, in Williamsburg Regional Hospital.
     Mr. Thompson was born May 5, 1931, a son of the late James O’Dell Thompson and Emma Malone Thompson. He was a retired US Army veteran, having served in the Special Forces. He was also retired from Boddie-Noel Enterprises.
     Surviving are: his children, Pam (Rick) Pittman, of Raeford, NC, Phyllis (Geoff) Lifrage and “Buster” (Linda) Thompson, both of Kingstree; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
      Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, February 5, 2014, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel, and burial, with full military honors, will follow in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 1 hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis TN 38101-9950 or The American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
