     Virginia Hinson “Ginger” Joye, 76, wife of Carl Wilbur Joye, Jr., died Tuesday, February 4, 2014, in Tidelands Hospice House in Georgetown, SC.
     Mrs. Joye was born October 17, 1937, in Kingstree, a daughter of the late Roscoe M. Hinson, Sr. and Virginia Rhem Hinson. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School (1955) and Carolina College of Commerce (1963), and was retired from the ASCS office of the USDA in Kingstree. Ginger was a former Girl Scout Leader, a former Williamsburg Cemetery committee member, and a member of the DAR. She was a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, where she had been active as a Circle Leader and a Nursery Sunday School Teacher. Ginger organized a seniors group at the church, “The Ginger Snappers”, which was named for her by its members. In addition to her parents, Ginger was preceded in death by her first husband Lajoe G. Ward.
     Surviving, in addition to her husband Carl Wilbur, of Kingstree, are: her children, Lajoe G. “Joey” Ward, Jr., of Pawleys Island, Elizabeth “Bitzie” (Herbie) Owens, of Kingstree, Roscoe “Rocky” (Debbie) Ward, of Kingstree, Laurice Ann Ward, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Christopher “Chris” (Teri) Ward, of Kingstree; stepchildren, Carl W. Joye III and Martha “Jodi” Joye (Lynn McPherson), both of  Beaufort; sister Elizabeth “Bette” Miller, of Kingstree; a brother Roscoe “Rock” (Lib) Hinson, Jr., of Georgetown, SC; 10 grandchildren, Sandy McKenzie, Hailey (Jeff) Wilson, Jamie (Jason) Stillinger, Brooke Owens, Lisa Bradford, Dylan Evans, McKenzie Ward, Lajoe Ward, Trey Ward, and Conner Joye; and 9 great grandchildren, Joey Benton, Becca Benton, Jenna McKenzie, Evie Wilson, Paxton Stillinger, Jackson Wilson, Cody Bradford, Gamble Wilson, and Ann Paisley Stillinger.
      Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday, February 6, 2014, in the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, with burial in Williamsburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Williamsburg Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, 411 N. Academy Street, Kingstree, SC 29556 or Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N. Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC 29440.
