Mrs. Joyce West Lane, 91, wife of the late Homer LeRoy “Roy” Lane, died Tuesday, January 10, 2023, in Jacksonville, FL.

     Mrs. Lane was born March 9, 1931, in Baltimore, MD, a daughter of Orin and Mary M. West. Joyce grew up in many places, including Baltimore MD and Anchorage, AK, as her father was in the Coast Guard. She married Roy Lane and they built a life together in Greeleyville, SC. Joyce loved being a housewife and raising their daughters. When Roy died in 1974, Joyce moved to Florida and made a good life there with her family all around her. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, but also a strict one. She enjoyed having fun with her family and making great memories.  She was a member of Crown Point Church in Jacksonville, FL.

     Surviving Mrs. Lane are: two daughters, Debbie Lane and Cindy (Eugene) Stevens, both of Jacksonville, FL; granddaughter, Shana Still; great grandson, Peyton Still; great granddaughter, Addyson Still; sister-in-law, Virginia “Monkey” Way of Kingstree; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Samuel Armstrong McCrea, 95, husband of the late Frances Brown McCrea, died Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Carolina Gardens at Conway, SC.

Mr. McCrea was born January 23, 1927, in Kingstree, SC, a son of the late McDowell Armstrong McCrea and Alice Parnell McCrea. Mr. Sammie was a graduate of Kingstree High School, worked at Moses Collis Heating and Air for many years, and retired from Oneita Knitting Mills. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church.

Surviving Mr. McCrea are: three sons, Larry S. (Carol) McCrea, of Murrells Inlet, SC, Michael A. (Carolyn) McCrea, of Leland, NC, and Timothy B. McCrea, of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Larry R. McCrea, Christian McCrea, Kiersti McCrea, and Samuel A. McCrea; and a beloved daughter-in-law, Candy McCrea. In addition to his parents and his wife Mr. McCrea was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Brannon and Cameron McCrea.

Margaret Kellahan Tyler, 97, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022, in Huntsville, AL.

     Mrs. Tyler was born April 2, 1925, in Kingstree, SC, the daughter of the late Richard Melvin Kellahan and Minnie Strong Kellahan. She was a graduate of Kingstree High School and Winthrop College. “Miss Margaret” was a homemaker and loved to bake, especially proud of her cheese straws and her sourdough bread. She also enjoyed quilting with the ladies of the quilting group at the church. She was a lifelong member of  Central Presbyterian Church.

     Surviving Mrs. Tyler are: her son, Jim (Becky) Tyler of Lexington, SC; her daughter, Sarah T. (Irvin) Stuckey of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Hogan (Mollie) Tyler of Columbia, SC, Lauren (Brian) Prahl of Lexington, SC, Charles (Kathleen) Stuckey of Huntsville, AL, and Allison Stuckey (Zac) Cole of Huntsville, AL; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Miss Margaret was preceded in death by her brothers, W.N. “Billy” Kellahan and Richard Herman “Dick” Kellahan.

     Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Central Presbyterian Church in Kingstree, SC with burial in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Miss Margaret’s family will greet friends at the church one hour before the service on Wednesday.

Ezra Steve Brown, 74, of the Cedar Swamp Community, died peacefully at home on December 31, 2022, surrounded by those he loved. 

     Steve was born May 31, 1948, in Williamsburg County, the eldest son of the late Ezra Tolly Brown and Dorothy Howell Brown.  He enjoyed all things outdoors including hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and camping with his children, grandchildren, and friends.  He was a member of the Cedar Swamp Lancing Association, a lifelong member and former deacon of Central Presbyterian Church.  A loving husband and father, Steve was always up for an adventure and loved to travel.  His contagious smile, boisterous laugh, and sense of humor will be missed by those who loved him most.

     He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ruth Epps “Ruthie” Brown; son, Steven (Sheila) Brown of Kingstree; son, Michael (Patti) Brown of Lake City; son, Will (Nichole) Godwin of Kingstree; brother, Lynn (Harriett) Brown of Florence; grandchildren, Wes, Kayla, Emily, Blake, Nicholas, Sydney, Jeromie, Haley, Billy, and Anna Grace; and 9 precious great grandchildren.

William Bartow “W.B.” Smith, 94, husband of the late Helen Mouzon “Patsy” Smith, died at home in Orange Park, FL on Friday, December 23, 2022.

Mr. Smith was born December 2, 1928, in Olanta, SC, a son of the late Sidney Paul Smith and Eunice Dubose Smith. He was a graduate of Hebron High School and Spartanburg Junior College, and was a ROTC graduate of Clemson College in 1951, receiving a BS in Agriculture and was commissioned in the US Army. In 1970, Mr. Smith received a Master of Education degree from Western Carolina University. While in the Army, Mr. Smith served in France as a Logistic Officer from 1951 to 1953. Following discharge from the Army, he taught school in Florence, SC, Anderson, SC, and Duval County in Florida, retiring in 1992 after 32 years of service.

W.B. lived a sporty life, enjoying time spent with his wife Patsy, kids, grandkids, family and many lifelong friends. He never met a stranger, believed the best in people, had a witty sense of humor, a million-dollar smile, and was a role model to many. He enjoyed quail hunting, bass, bream, and crappie fishing. His passion was golf, and he was a true competitor on the course. He played last with the senior group at Westland Golf Course (Willow Lakes) and played in the greater Jacksonville area from the late 1950s to 2013. He was a founding and active member of St. Johns Bass Anglers Association from the early 70s to the 80s. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Orange Park, FL and current member of Hebron United Methodist Church in Hebron, SC.

Surviving Mr. Smith are: children, Kimberly Smith Hargett and Maria Smith (Gary) Reece, both of Orange Park, FL and Paul “Bart” (Karen M.) Smith of Springfield, GA; grandchildren, Kyle Reece, Blair Reece, Cole Hargett, and Gavin and Wyatt Smith; brothers, Sidney (Pat) Smith of Midway, GA and  James “Bobby” (Nancy) Smith of Camden, SC; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife Patsy, W.B. was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law Philip and Betty Smith and mother and father-in-law, Haskell and Mildred Mouzon.

Elisa Evans “Lisa” Coker, 65, wife of the late Alvin Wilson Coker, died Monday, December 26, 2022, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.

     Mrs. Coker was born August 5, 1957, in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late Coley Wade ”C.W.” Evans, Jr. and Doris Arnette Evans. She was a graduate of Hudgens Academy and attended Coker College and Francis Marion College. Lisa recently retired from the US Postal Service after more than 20 years of service. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards with friends, crocheting, and especially spending time with Shay and her other grandchildren. Lisa was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church.

     Surviving Mrs. Coker are: her daughter, Amy (Justin) Hill of Salters, SC; sister, Elaine E. (Jimmy) McElveen of Sardis; sister-in-law, Becky (John) Plowden of Kingstree, SC; mother-in-law, Marian Wilson Coker; daughter-in-law, Audra Truluck Coker of Kingstree, SC; four grandchildren, Shay, Greyson, Anthony and Eden; and nephews, Jamey and Matt McElveen and Coker and Sam Plowden. In addition to her husband and parents, Lisa was preceded in death by her son, Alvin Wilson “Wil” Coker, Jr.

     Albert LeRoy “Roy” Scott, III, 55, died at home in Kingstree, SC, Saturday, December 17, 2022.

     Mr. Scott was born November 5, 1967, in Kingstree, the son of the late Albert LeRoy Scott, Jr. and Dorothy Turner Scott. He was a high school graduate and attended the University of South Carolina and Winthrop University. Roy was a veteran of the US Navy and was a Methodist. Roy was a self-employed computer technician.

     Surviving Mr. Scott are: two sisters, Helen (Arnold) Tyler of Kingstree and Dorothy Jane (Bobby) McCaskill of Battleboro, NC; two uncles, Ray (Emily) Turner of Darlington, SC and Charles Odom, of Gibson, NC ; an aunt, Davis Plummer of Clio, SC; nephews and niece, John Tyler, Jr. and Jason Tyler, both of Kingstree, and Russell (Rebecca) Mouzon of Tarboro, NC and Brandy (Moe) Sledge, of Rocky Mount, NC; and Roy’s beloved fur baby, Precious. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his fiancée, Linda Fitch.

Betty Ross “Betsy” Almond Haselden, 80, wife of the late James Alton Haselden, died Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Summerville, SC.

     Mrs. Haselden was born October 16, 1942, in Columbia, SC, a daughter of the late Betty Ross Almond and William Almond. She was a retired nurse. Betsy enjoyed cross-stitching, cooking, and gardening. She was a member of Kingstree Church of God.

     Surviving Mrs. Haselden are: four daughters, Amy (John) Liebenrood of Summerville, SC, Kaye Emsley (Dean Dobson) of Piedmont, SC, and Vicki (Darby) Fulton and Denise (Billy) McKnight, both of Kingstree, SC; a sister, Julia (Joel) Martin of Charlotte; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

     In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Haselden was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Luann Welch, 2 granddaughters, Gina Welch and Amanda McGee, and a grandson, Davey McKnight.

JoAnne Boyd Sires, 91, wife of the late Jasper Marion Sires, III, died Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree, surrounded by her beloved family.

Mrs. Sires was born August 26, 1931, in Lane, SC, a daughter of the late Charles Boyd and Matelon Bevis Boyd. She was a 1949 graduate of Kingstree High School and attended Coker College before marrying Marion. JoAnne worked for many years at Farmers Telephone Cooperative and Colonial Rubber Works before retiring. Following retirement JoAnne was the  receptionist at Williamsburg Funeral Home for a number of years, a job she truly enjoyed.

JoAnne’s first and foremost love was her family. Even as a child, JoAnne looked forward to visiting her maternal grandfather and cousins in Jonesville, SC and recounted those stories to her children as they grew up. The Boyd cousins in Williamsburg County were equally important throughout her life and as her family grew, she welcomed each new member with delight.  She was also proud of her hometown of Lane and often shared stories of growing up there. Marion’s family became her family when they married, and her mother-in-law Emmie became her “second mother” and gave her further cooking lessons adding to the ones Matelon had started. Cooking became a gift of love for her family. She eventually wrote a cookbook as her legacy, but her legacy was so much more. As her family expanded to include sons-in-law, grands and great-grands, she instilled the importance of being together by cooking weekly Sunday dinners for all who could come. Many family friends were fed at Granny Jo’s table over the years, and thus came the name for her cookbook, “Sunday Dinner at Granny’s.” She loved celebrations of any kind, especially birthdays and Christmas. After she retired, she enjoyed volunteering for Tidelands Hospice and outings with her Red Hat Society group, “The Flighty Ladies”. For many years she enjoyed her time as a member of The Garden Makers Garden Club. JoAnne was a member of Union Presbyterian Church.

Surviving Mrs. Sires are: her three daughters and their husbands: Beth S. and Billy Horton of Kingstree, SC, Sheryl S. and Mark Scott of Salters, SC and Michelle S. and Brice Benton of Kingstree, SC; five grandchildren, Elissa H. (Tim) Swicord and William B. “B” (Cheray) Horton all of Kingstree, Sarah S. (Bryan) Kelley of Greenville, SC, Gordon (Annie Bauer) Scott of Kingstree, and Marion B. (Juston) McClary of Kingstree, SC; ten great grandchildren, Jay Swicord, Chandler Swicord, Henry Swicord, Alec Hagwood, Austin (Alyssa) Hagwood, Caitie Horton, Salters and Emma Kelley, and Jack and Mae Scott; 1 great-great granddaughter, Charlee Suzanne Hagwood; two special nieces who were like daughters, Adrienne Foust (Bob) Shinta of Salters, SC and Carol Shepard (C.J.) Morgan of Scurry, TX and a niece who was more like a sister, Brenda B. (Sammy) Pringle of Surfside Beach, SC; her sister-in law, Jean S. (Carlisle) Shirer of Salters, SC;  many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews; and her dear little Doxie, Phoebe.

In addition to her husband Marion and her parents, JoAnne was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses, Charles Winston Boyd and his wife Lillian, Louise B. Cox and her husband Richard, Mamie Lee B. Mishoe and her husband Frank, Frances B. Lovelace and her husband Ben, and Bevis B. Shepard and her husband Ector; a sister-in-law Leila Sires Foust and her husband Jim.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Troy Gamble, nurses and staff of Williamsburg Regional Hospital and sitters Shelly Graham and Mary Greggs for taking caring of our mama like she was their own. Their compassionate care made a difficult time much easier.

Annie Laurie Blakely Stackley, 82, the wife of the late Herbert Van Keuren Stackley, Sr., passed away Friday, December 9, 2022, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Stackley was born June 10, 1940, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Laurie Eugene Blakely and  Iva Gamble Blakely McIntosh. She was a graduate of Williamsburg High School and attended Coker College. She was employed at The Exchange Bank of Kingstree and later worked at USDA-Farmers Home Administration for 20 years.  Mrs. Stackley was a member of Kingstree United Methodist Church.

Surviving Mrs. Stackley are: her son, Herbert “Herb” Van Keuren Stackley, Jr.; a brother, Eugene G. Blakely (Claudia); a sister-in-law, Gertha Graham Stackley; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

The family would like to especially thank Dr. Troy Gamble for his care and compassion during Annie Laurie’s illness.

Marilea Hanna-Dooley, 87 of Washougal, Washington passed away on October 29, 2022, at her residence.

Marilea was born on April 22, 1935, to James and Ruby Hanna in Kingstree, South Carolina. After graduating from Kingstree High School in 1953, she went on to study at Winthrop College, and in 1957, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Education. She was granted her teaching certificate from the State of Washington in 1962 and began her 25-year career as an elementary school teacher.

In 1987, Marilea retired and spent her time puttering in her flower gardens, enjoying her travels across the United States and spending time with family and friends. She was a voracious reader. Marilea was a joyful presence with her colorful clothes, creative fashion choices and wonderful sense of humor. She was a strong compassionate woman filled with a desire to live her life to the fullest and to be loved by others. Her spirit of determination was contagious.

Marilea was predeceased by her parents, brother, William “Billy” Hanna and sister, Idella “Ikey” Brown. She is survived by her three daughters, Bobbilea Muncey, Ruby Welinski and Shirley Overman; three grandchildren, Robert Nelson, Patrick Overman, Jr., and Christopher Overman; sister Jimmie Grace Hanna of St Simons Island, GA and brother Henry “Buddy” Hanna (Brenda) of Dalzell, SC and sister-in-law Johnette “Johnnie” Brown Hanna Judy of Lugoff, SC

Sharon Johnson Player, 69, wife of the late Charles Larry Player, died Saturday, November 26, 2022, at her home in St. Stephen, SC.

Mrs. Player was born September 21, 1953, in Charleston, SC, the daughter of the late Thomas Clyburne Johnson and Nettie Omagene Dalton Johnson. She was a graduate of Berkeley County schools and Roper Nursing School, where she was the recipient of The Irene Dixon Award, the highest honor for a graduate. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at Roper Hospital and Williamsburg Regional Hospital before retiring. After retirement she returned to work as a personal caregiver for many in the community. Sharon was a member of Spring Gulley Baptist Church in Andrews, SC. She enjoyed shopping, gardening and catfishing.

Surviving Mrs. Player are: 2 sons, Shane (Michele) Green of Summerville, SC and Larry (Tricia) Player of Moncks Corner, SC; and 3 daughters, Shannon (John) Cason of Cottageville, SC, Laurie (Tim) Campbell of St Stephen, SC, and Pam (Seth) Overton of Salters, SC; 2 sisters, Susan (Wayne) Bellflower of Summerville, SC and Boogie (Pat) Foster of Goose Creek, SC; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Kathy Sauls Quarles, 62, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.

Kathy was born July 27, 1960, in Valdosta, GA, a daughter of the late Hadie Bryan “H.B.” Sauls and Marie Tindal Sauls. She was a graduate of Kingstree Senior High School and attended Williamsburg Technical College. Kathy enjoyed puzzles, crafts, cards, fishing and especially loving on her grandchildren. She was a member of Kingstree Second Baptist Church.

Surviving Ms. Quarles are: her son, Steven Quarles of Kingstree, SC; her daughter, Kimberly (Heath) Tisdale of Effingham, SC; 4 grandchildren, Wyatt, Bentley, Carley and Matthew; 2 brothers, Dale (Kathy) Sauls of Rock Hill, SC and Kenny (Flossie) Sauls of Lake City, SC; 2 sisters, Debi (James) Porter of Cades, SC and Nancy (Jamie) Brown of Cleveland, GA; and a special friend, Robert Shaw. Martha Ellen Cromer, 91, died peacefully Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Wellmore of Daniel Island in Charleston, SC.

     Miss Cromer was born November 19, 1931, in Kingstree, SC, the daughter of the late Lindsay Harper Cromer, Jr. and Myrtle Bernice Askins Cromer. She graduated as Salutatorian of her Class of 1949 at Kingstree High School, attended Coker College and graduated from Carolina College of Commerce. Miss Martha Ellen was a former employee of the Army Corps of Engineers and retired from the Internal Revenue Service,  working several jobs until she was eighty years old. She was a 50 year member of Beta Sigma Phi and enjoyed international travel, sewing, reading, gardening and being with her younger cousins.

       Miss Martha Ellen is survived by numerous cousins including: Rebecca Avrett, Debbie Garland, Jerianne Peele, Patty Biggerstaff, Peyton Avrett, Will Avrett, and Austin Avrett; and godchildren, Lori Anne Mann, Mary Kneece Lane, and Rande Allen Lane.

     Carolyn Player Gudenas, 85, loving wife of Joseph George Gudenas, Jr., died Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in Rock Hill, SC.

     Carolyn was born November 4, 1937, in Salters, SC, the daughter of the late Edward Ashby Player and Addie Kirby Player. She was a graduate of Greeleyville High School, Hamlet Hospital School of Nursing and Illinois Central College where she received a certificate as an Operating Room Technician. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Carolyn enjoyed beachcombing, travelling, boating, fishing, shopping and especially spending time with her grandsons. And throughout all of those activities that she enjoyed, she never met a stranger, taking time to get to know everyone she met along the way.

       In addition to her husband of 66 years, Joe of Rock Hill, Carolyn is survived by her son Jay (Debbie) Gudenas of Rock Hill; 2 grandsons, Joseph E. “Joey” (Kellie) Gudenas of Portland, OR and Brian L. (Shahad) Gudenas of Memphis, TN; and one great granddaughter, Evie Gudenas of Portland, OR.

Carolyne Brown Geddings Joye, 82, wife of Thomas DeWitt Joye, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday morning, November 14, 2022, after an extended illness.

Born in Gourdin, SC, on January 21, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Carolyne Elizabeth Brown and James Ivey Geddings. Brownie was a Kingstree High School graduate, Class of 1958. Over her career, she was associated with the Exchange Bank of Kingstree and Williamsburg First National Bank. In her private life she enjoyed cooking and baking, reading, knitting, sewing, and shopping. She especially enjoyed the beach.

Brownie is survived by her devoted husband Tommy of 64 years, her son, Thomas DeWitt Joye, Jr. (Joanie) of Kingstree, SC, and her daughter, Carolyne Joye Bradford (Robert) of Tallahassee, FL. She was lovingly called Brownie by her grandchildren, Elise Bradford Thomas (Joe), William Bennett Bradford, and Sarah Rutledge Bradford. She was so pleased to have two great grandchildren, Bailey and R.J. Tucker. She is also survived by a sister, Cornelia Bell (David) and two brothers, James Geddings (Catherine) and William Geddings.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, William Bennett Joye and James Ernest Joye.

Graveside services will be held at Kingstree Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 11 AM. The family will receive friends following the service in Grace Hall at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, 411 N. Mrs. Zulene Kelly Gandy, 96, wife of the late Rev. Wilson Charles “W.C.” Gandy, died Sunday, November 6, 2022, at her home in Kingstree, surrounded by beloved family.

     Mrs. Gandy was born April 16, 1926, in Darlington County, SC, a daughter of the late Roy and Retha Gainey Kelly. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was lovingly called “Old Grandma.” She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Gandy served alongside her husband in the SC Pentecostal Holiness Conference for many years and was a treasured pastor’s wife. She was a member of Kingstree Pentecostal Holiness Church where she especially enjoyed the women’s ministries.

     Surviving Mrs. Gandy are: her daughter, Sandra G. (Kenneth) McClary; four grandchildren, Ken (Sherri) McClary, Donald Dean (Melissa) McClary, Kimberly (Mark) Vice and Kelly Gandy; eight great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; siblings, Blease Kelly, Rev. Burch Kelly, Calvin Kelly, and Rev. Betty Gainey. In addition to her parents and her husband W.C.,  Mrs. Gandy was preceded in death by her son, Charles E. Gandy and his wife Carol McCutchen Gandy, and siblings, Bruce Kelly, Roy Kelly, Redmond Kelly, and Mary Jewel Evans.

     Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Williamsburg Funeral Home, with burial in Kingstree Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. Mrs. Gandy’s family will greet friends at 1 PM at the funeral home just before the service.

Thomas Junior “Red-Eye” Kinard, 77, died Thursday, October 13, 2022, at his home in Greeleyville.

Graveside funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Mr. Kinard’s family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 7 PM at Williamsburg Funeral Home.

Mr. Kinard was born October 9, 1945, in Bamberg, SC, a son of the late George Daniel Kinard and Margie Hyatt Kinard. He attended Kingstree High School and was retired from Martin Telephone Company. “Red-Eye” enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially cooking for his family and friends.

Surviving Mr. Kinard are: a son, Thomas Daniel (Sherry) Kinard; 2 daughters, Cheryl K. (Rusty) Sanders and Bridget A. Wise; a brother, Harry (Ginger) Kinard; 3 sisters, Anna (Joe) Barwick, Carolyn (Danny) Mixon, and Irene Disher; grandchildren, Brandy Howard, Heather Flannery, Kayla Powell, Daniel Kinard, and Jacob Kinard; great grandchildren, Devin McElveen, Caitlyn McElveen, Chloe Parker, Skyler Parker, Brantley Matthews, Hayden Mathers, Jayden Vearil, Megan Danielle Kinard and Bryce Kinard; and great great grandchild, Noah Ballesteros. In addition to his parents, Red-Eye was preceded in death by his first wife, Lydia Thomas Kinard, brothers, Nelson Kinard, George Kinard, and Ricky Kinard, sister, Sandra Quick, and grandchildren, Devin Richburg and Thomas R. Kinard.

Cynthia “Cindy” White Eaddy, 63, wife of William A. “Bill” Eaddy, died at home Monday, October 10, 2022, surrounded by her beloved family.

     Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church, with burial in Sandy Bay Cemetery. Cindy’s family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

     Mrs. Eaddy was born December 1, 1958, in Lake City, a daughter of the late John Ulmer White and Geneva Strickland White. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and a phlebotomist and was retired after working many years as a bookkeeper. Cindy enjoyed crafts, especially painting, woodworking, and stained glass. She was a member of Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church.

     Surviving Mrs. Eaddy, in addition to her husband Bill, are: her children, Chris Eaddy, Angie (Thomas) Brooks, and Tiffany Filyaw; Grandchildren, C.J. Eaddy, Caitlyn (Morgan) Varney, Brandon Eaddy, Bill (Lance) Efird, Emily (Piercen) Lynch, Dylan Brooks, Tracey Eaddy, Jessie “Noodlehead” Chockley, Gage Filyaw, Will Eaddy, Dalton Filyaw, and Ben Eaddy; great grandchildren, Paisley Eaddy and Lainey Varney; siblings, Debbie (Bruce) Morris, Vickie (Mike) McKenzie, Sue (Glen) Tisdale, and Kym (Carl) Scott. In addition to her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by a sister Cheyrl McKenzie.

John Corris Baxley, 89, husband of Charlotte Coker McGee Baxley, died Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree.

     Mr. Baxley was born July 29, 1933, in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late Azalee Ray Baxley and George Washington Baxley. He was a graduate of Hemingway schools and was a self-employed merchant. He attended Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church.

     Surviving Mr. Baxley, in addition to his wife Charlotte, are: a brother, D.D. (Frances) Baxley of Canton, NC; 2 sisters, Carol Poston of Hemingway and Yvonne (Randy) Loveless of Lake City; a stepson, Rannie McGee of Kingstree; 3 stepdaughters, Polly (William) Roberts of Andrews, SC, Pansy Gause of Charleston, and Debra (Tom) Britton of Hopkinsville, KY; 3 step-grandchildren, William Craig, Nikki Feathers, and Kristen Gause. In addition to his parents, Mr. Baxley was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Harrelson Baxley, brothers, Raymond Baxley and George Baxley, and a sister, Geneva Yarbrough.
