     Barbara Lifrage Tomlinson, 81, wife of Samuel J. “Sammy” Tomlinson, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday January 15, 2014.
    Mrs. Tomlinson was born March 31, 1932, in Salters, SC, a daughter of the late Julius G. Lifrage and Mayme Blakely Lifrage. She was the Valedictorian of her graduating class at Kingstree High School and served as secretary of the SC Synod of the Presbyterian Youth Fellowship. She attended Flora McDonald College and received a Masters of Education Degree from USC. She was a retired elementary school teacher. “Miss Barbara” was a member of the Margaret Gregg Gordon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of Kingstree Presbyterian Church.
    Surviving in addition to her husband Sammy, of Kingstree, are: 4 sons, Samuel T. (Anne) Tomlinson, II, of Columbia, David J. (Susan) Tomlinson, of Kingstree, J. Russell (Jane) Tomlinson, of Columbia, and Jonathan E. (Alice) Tomlinson, of Kingstree; a daughter, Mayme T. (Will) Carsten, of Cades; a sister, Roberta L. Shepard, of Charleston; “Barboo’s” 14 grandchildren, Samuel James Tomlinson, III, Elizabeth Tomlinson, Jason Tomlinson, Lauren Tomlinson, Stacey Tomlinson, Jennifer T. Allen, Russ Tomlinson, Jake Tomlinson, Addie Tomlinson, Rebecca Tomlinson, Sheila Tomlinson, Joy Carsten, Kate Carsten, and Allen Carsten; and 2 great grandchildren, Samuel T. Tomlinson, III and Russell Everett Tomlinson.
     Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, January 18, 2014, in the Kingstree Presbyterian Church, with burial in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall from 10 AM to 11 AM just prior to the service.                   .
