George L. David
Salters
George Leroy David,
90, husband of Edna Britton David, died Saturday, September 21, 2013, in
McLeod Hospice House in Florence.
Mr. David was
born November 17, 1922, in Salters, SC, a son of the late Leroy and Ella
Goudlock David. He graduated from Kingstree High School, was a retired
farmer, and was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the US Naval Reserve.
“Mr. George” had worked at Williamsburg County Soil Conservation and retired
from the Williamsburg County ASCS office. He was a member of Union
Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder Emeritus. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Belle D. Shepard, Nancy
D. Ingles, Mary Eleanor D. Sloman, and Louise D. Williams.
Surviving are his wife,
Edna B. David, of Salters; 3 daughters, Cathy (Pete) Jones and Leslee (Berry)
Spivey, both of Salters, and Melanie (Lyn) Bodie, of Pawleys Island; 5
grandchildren, Mary Grace (“Bubba”) McGee, Catherine (“Chip”) Brown, Rob
Jones, Lonnie Jones, and Kirklyn Bodie; 2 great grand daughters, Katie
and Lizzy McGee; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will
be 3 P.M. Monday, September 23, 2013, in Union Presbyterian Church, with
burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends
7 to 9 PM Sunday at Williamsburg Funeral Home in Kingstree. Memorials may
