Rev. Luther
Jarvin Shuman, Jr., 99, husband of Evelyn Duke Shuman, died Friday, February
28, 2014, at his residence.
Rev. Shuman
was born February 3, 1915, in Vidalia, GA, a son of the late Luther J.
Shuman, Sr. and Mary Alice Stewart Shuman. He was a graduate of Statesboro
High School and The Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY. Rev. Shuman was
a retired Baptist minister, having served as Pastor of numerous churches;
his last church was Union Crossroads Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking,
carpentry and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by his first wife, Meda C. Shuman, 3 daughters, Mary Shuman, Meda Branton
and Judy Pate and 4 siblings.
Surviving,
in addition to his wife of Kingstree, are: 3 step daughters, Rose Marie
(Gary) Jarrett of Kingstree, Gwen Martin of Cades and Maxine Floyd of Lake
City; 4 granddaughters; 6 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services
will be 2 P.M. Sunday, March 2, 2014, in the Williamsburg Funeral Home
Chapel, with burial in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive
friends 1 hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. The family requests
memorials to Hospice Care of S.C., 136 N. Academy St., Kingstree, SC 29556.
