Margaret Rogerson
Witherspoon, 96, widow of Charles Sullivan Witherspoon, died Thursday,
October 10, 2013 in a Manning hospital.
Mrs. Witherspoon
was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Fannie Lee Ammons
Rogerson and Franklin Scott Rogerson. She received her education
in Williamsburg County schools and retired from Warsaw Manufacturing as
a seamstress. Mrs. Witherspoon was an avid gardener and enjoyed making
crafts by hand and from wood. She also continued with her sewing in retirement.
Mrs. Witherspoon was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeff Witherspoon
of Kingstree, 3 sisters, Eunice Holladay (Oliver) of Georgetown, Marie
Russell (Preacher) and Mae Durant (Harold) both of Sumter, and 2 brothers,
Frank Rogerson (Edith) of Moncks Corner and Tom Rogerson (Tina) of Sumter.
Funeral services
will be held at 4 PM Sunday October 13, 2013 in the Cades Baptist Church,
with burial to follow at Kingstree Memorial Gardens. The family will
receive visitors at the church from 3 PM until the time of the service
on Sunday as well. Memorials may be made to Cades Baptist Church,
or Hospice Care of SC.
Surviving
are: 3 sons, Wayne Witherspoon (Joyce) of Andrews, Roy Witherspoon (Barbara)
of Summerton, and Don Witherspoon (Vicky) of Kingstree; 1 daughter, Pat
Lowder (Chuck) of New Zion; 10 grandchildren, 1 step granddaughter, 17
great grandchildren, 3 step great grandsons; 2 sisters, Gertrude Brown
(Richard) of Manning and Louise Chandler of Sumter.
