Mable W. Rodgers

02/27/1988 – 09/09/2018

Kingstree

Carol Renee McKenzie passed away suddenly on September 9, 2018, in Tucson, AZ.

Carol was born February 27, 1988, in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late Mary Powell and Bill McKenzie. She graduated from The SC School for the Deaf and Blind in Spartanburg, SC, where she was a member of the swim team. She participated in the Special Olympics as a swim team member and won numerous First Place awards. Carol was a member of Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church where she participated in the Girls Ministries and had 23 years of perfect attendance in Sunday School.

Some of Carol’s favorite things included attending church and helping others, whether it was buckling a little one into a car seat or pushing a wheel chair. She loved small children, airplane and boat rides, having a pocket full of keys, and daily facetiming family members. The world is a better place because of her unconditional love. She will be dearly missed by all.

Carol is survived by: her sister, Cheryl (Gary) McClam, of Kingstree; 2 brothers, Ellis McKenzie-Morales (Matt), of Sahuarita, AZ and Richard (Toni) McKenzie, of Kingstree; her biological father, Paul (Debbie) Ray, of Manning; and a special little niece, Callahan Gavin McKenzie, of Sahuarita, AZ. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her biological mother, Darlene McKenzie Ray and a brother, DeWitt McKenzie.

Carol’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Lara family of Tucson, AZ: Claudia, Marcos, Alondra, Marcos, Jr., and Julian. You not only loved Carol, but you took her into your home and made her a very big part of your family. Words will never express how much you all mean to us!

Funeral services celebrating Carol’s life will be 4 PM Saturday, September 22, 2018, in Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church, with burial in Smith Cemetery. Carol’s family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM Friday at Williamsburg Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Corrie’s House Children’s Christmas Fund, c/o Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church, 172 Delos Road, Kingstree, SC 29556.

Losing someone as a sister is hard. Your taking care of her is touching and needed to be recognized. I have a brother who has disabilities. I believe your sister was very special. Please accept my condolences. It is good to know she had an interest in God. We want to look to the time when death will be brought to nothing. We have comforting assurance that the hour is coming and those in the memorial tombs will hear Jesus voice and come out. That will be a great time. I look forward to that time. With all the things your sister liked to do brought joy to her and people won’t forget that. I admire her wearing the seat belt. Continue to take care of yourself. Have a nice day knowing that one day death will be no more, neither will mourning nor out cry nor pain be anymore. All these things Will have passed away.
