Funeral services will be 11 AM, Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Williamsburg Funeral Home  with burial in Tisdale Cemetery.

Visitation

Mr. McCrea’s family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM  Monday at the funeral home.

Davis McDowell McCrea, 96, husband of Ida Ann Morris McCrea, died Sunday August 1, 2021, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Mr. McCrea was born January 22, 1925, in Kingstree, a son of the late James McDowell and Alice Vonciel Parnell McCrea. He was a Navy veteran of W.W.II, a farmer and merchant having worked at Williamsburg Regional Hospital and several food stores. He served his Lord and Savior his entire life and was a member, deacon, and Sunday school teacher at Piney Forest Baptist Church. Mr. McCrea enjoyed gardening and sharing his vegetables with his church family and other friends.

Surviving, in addition to his wife Ann, are: his daughter Alice Teretha Ann “Teri” Watford (Benjie) of Kingstree; 2 grandchildren, Crystalyn Michelle Watford (Scott) Honkonen and Ashley Nichole Watford; sister, Rounette (Bob) Rowan; brothers, Henry (Carol) McCrea, Rayford McCrea, and Sammie McCrea; and a special friend he thought of as a son, Craig (Robin) Stephenson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a sister, Adelaide Sypolt; brothers, Sinnott McCrea, and Archie McCrea; brother-in-law, Bob Sypolt;  and sisters -in-law, Mary McCrea, Frances McCrea and Janet McCrea.

    I am so sorry for the loss of such a sweet and wonderful man. I worked with this man for numerous amount of years at Food Lion and you couldn’t have asked for a nicer person. I always respected him because he was always happy, smiling and never let anything bring him down. He was the best! You are going to be missed Davis but I know you are going to Heaven and they are going to welcome you with open arms. Rest In Peace my friend!!

    I remember Mr.Davis he was so sweet and such a kind man . Always had a smile for everyone.I was young but I do remember him running a store across the river . I am so sorry to hear of his loss . But heaven has gained another angel .

    So sorry for your loss of your dear husband and wonderful father.. He was a humble, loving man and I have many fond memories of him from the past. May God strengthen the entire family during this difficult time. You were blessed to have him so many years and it is hard to let go but may he rest in peace now as his earthly toil is now over.
