Donnie L. McDonald, 57, beloved husband of April Frye McDonald, died Thursday, July 16, 2026, at MUSC Medical Center in Charleston, SC after a four-month courageous battle following a heart attack.
Donnie was born on November 22, 1968, in Sumter, SC, the son of the late Billie Joe McDonald and Donna Jean Disher McDonald Corbett. He was a graduate of Kingstree Senior High School and was a farmer with Springfield Plantation. Donnie was an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially fox hunting. He wanted to pass on his love for the outdoors to his children and grandchildren, so he reveled in spending time with them teaching them how to hunt and fish. Donnie attended Kingstree United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife April, Donnie is survived by: his daughters, Olivia (Alex) Richburg of Cades, Dixie Miles of Kingstree and Nicole McDonald of Cades; his stepfather, Wayne Corbett of Kingstree; his sister Jennifer (Vinny Burns) Corbett of Kingstree; his brother, Christopher Corbett of Myrtle Beach; four grandchildren, Joanna Richburg, Kenna Miles, Bentley McKenzie and Liam Richburg; a niece, Kinsley Burns; a nephew Carter Burns; and a special cousin who was more like a brother, Jimmy Ray (Dena) Disher. In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by a brother, Joey McDonald and an infant daughter, Abigail McDonald.
