Visitation
Dr. Floyd’s family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday in the Family Life Center at Kingstree First Baptist Church.

Dr. Harry Wells Floyd, 81, husband of Nancy Haselden Floyd, died Monday, September 9, 2019, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital.
Dr. Floyd was born in Olanta, SC on December 21, 1937, a son of the late Harry Pate and Alyce Willoughby Floyd. He was a 1955 graduate of Olanta High School and received a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of SC in 1959. He served in the SC Air National Guard for one year and the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey for two years. He then entered the Medical College of SC and graduated in 1968. Dr. Floyd did his two year residency at the Medical College of SC specializing in internal medicine. He began his practice in Kingstree on July 13, 1970, specializing in family medicine, obstetrics, and orthopaedics. Dr. Floyd delivered over 1500 babies. He served on the Williamsburg Regional Hospital Board of Trustees for over 38 years and was a member of the Medical University of SC Board of Visitors for many years. He was retired from his family practice, Williamsburg Medical Associates. Dr. Floyd was a highly respected community leader and a dedicated medical professional. He was a compassionate, caring doctor who was loved by his patients and the community as a whole. The Town of Kingstree honored him on April 19, 2010, by designating that day “Dr. Harry W. Floyd Day”. That same month, Senator Yancey McGill introduced into the SC Senate a resolution “to congratulate Kingstree’s Dr. Harry W. Floyd upon the occasion of his retirement, to commend him for his many years of dedicated service as a medical professional, and to wish him much happiness and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.” Dr. Floyd was a member of First Baptist Church in Kingstree. He enjoyed fishing and rod building when he wasn’t taking care of others.
Surviving Dr. Floyd, in addition to his wife Nancy, are: a daughter, Geri Grier (Rhett) Garner of Florence; two sons, Stephen Wells (Jennifer) Floyd of Hanahan and David Thomas (Maggie) Floyd of Florence; and 4 grandchildren, Kymber Legg, Samuel Floyd, William Floyd, and Harry Wells Floyd.

Dr. Floyd was such a caring gentleman and even from a young age, I always knew when we went to the doctor and once we saw his face things would be better.

Dr. Floyd was my doctor for most of my life. He was a kind man and dedicated doctor to everyone. He will be missed greatly. He is at peace now with no pain. Till we meet again in Heaven….
Nancy, Geri, Stephen,David and all of your families, I worked with this gentle giant for 24 years… and yes sometimes he would say “Don’t poke the Bear” I loved him and my heart is hurting. All my love and prayers are with you guys in the days to come.
Prayers are with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed. He was also my doctor for many years. He and my dad were good friends and i can hear his laugh now as I type this. I bet he and my dad are having a good laugh and telling one another jokes. May comfort his family and friends during this time.

Dr. Floyd was a compassionate doctor. I saw that with his work at the hospital where I served as chaplain. He was mother’s doctor. My family and his were close friends in Olanta and my dad fished with his dad who chewed on a cigar. They were great people. I got to know Dr. Floyd better while I served as pastor at Second Baptist Church. He will be sorely missed around Kingstree.
I always felt like he was my doctor and my friend.
David, this is just to let you know that we are praying for you and your family. We pray that God will give you, your siblings, and your mom strength to endure. Weeping endures for a night, but joy will come in the morning.

My though and prayers are with each family member in the loss of a truly inspirational friend! Any time I saw him he always smiled and made some comment that would make me and others around him smile also!
He will truly be missed but I know he is at peace and enjoying being free from pain in his heavenly home!

I was sorry to hear about Dr Floyd’s passing. He was a good man and doctor. He hired me to be his nurse when I first met him, and I have many memories of those years. Can’t believe it’s been over 40 years!
Dr. Floyd delivered me in July 1976, and he was my family’s physician for many years. When family members passed away, he mourned with us, and he provided us with excellent medical care. When I was seven, I was in an accident, and shortly after I arrived, at the hospital, Dr. Floyd was there attending to me. After I became and adult, I severed in the military and completed college, and Dr. Floyd would always ask my parents about me and tell them that he was proud of the man that I had become. You will be missed Dr. Floyd. Rest in Peace.
