Earnest Loyd Baylor, 84, beloved husband of Jill Martin Baylor, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
Earnest was born on July 19, 1942, in Andrews, a son of the late John Henry “Joe” Baylor and Frances Cantley Baylor. He retired as the planer mill foreman at Charleston Heart Pine. Some of Earnest’s greatest joy came from woodworking, fishing, and especially family gatherings at the pond.He was a faithful member of Bloomingvale Baptist Church.
In addition to Jill, his wife of 63 years, Earnest is survived by his daughters, Denise (Robbie) Wilson and Tammi Thomas, both of Georgetown, SC; his son, Ernie (Erica) Baylor of Syracuse, NY; his grandchildren, Stan (Abby) Wilson, Lindsay (Wesley) Wilson, Jillian Thomas, Macee (Edward) McElveen, Mila Baylor, and Liam Baylor; his great-grandchildren, Pierce and Trace Poston, Nash and Blaze Thomas, Rebekah and Kerrigan Wilson, Olivia and Odin Wilson, and Mack McElveen; and his siblings, Walter Baylor and Donna Jean Cox. In addition to his parents, Joe and Frances, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Erica Baylor; his granddaughter, April Poston; his son-in-law, Eric Thomas; and several brothers and sisters. The Baylor family extends its sincere gratitude to Haley Alford for her exceptional care, compassion, and unwavering kindness during this difficult time.
