Gerald LaRue “Snowball” McKenzie, 83, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025, at his residence.
Snowball was born November 14, 1942, in Kingstree, SC, a son of the late Gerald L. McKenzie and Doris McCutcheon McKenzie. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School and a member of Sandy Bay Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he served as a deacon for over 40 years. Snowball helped start many businesses through the years but was mostly known for McKenzie Trucking and McKenzie Greenhouses.
Snowball is survived and missed by his loving wife Thelma Bryant McKenzie of 63 years; children, Pam Tisdale (Darren Tisdale), Becky Watts, Caroline McKenzie, Gary LaRue McKenzie (Erica McKenzie); grandchildren, Bryant (Angela), Gill, AnnLaRue, Henderson, Jack, Cecilia, Piper, Cole, Deanna (Derrell); Great grandchildren: Lincoln, Isaac, Presley Kate, Colton; and siblings; Mary Brown (David Brown), Ricky McKenzie, Harvey McKenzie (Hope).

I worked at Evans Trailer and Mr Snowball would come in an buy parts. He was a very kind man. Prayers for the family.
I am so very sorry to hear about Snowball passing away but we all know that he is where he always wanted to be now. He was such a wonderful Christian man and is now in Gods wonderful place in heaven i will keep Thelma and all of his children in my prayers. He will surely be missed by all of his friends and family. Ms. Thelma my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family….Mr. Snowball was a wonderful testament of God’s love and grace….I will never forget him traveling to Charleston to visit and pray with me when I was sick with cancer….He was a true believer of miracles….I feel blessed to have known him and you also….with love Carol….
