Julia Kaye Tims of Salters, SC, age 10, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 22, 2026, leaving behind an entire community with hearts forever changed by the beautiful life she lived.
Julia was completely and wonderfully herself. With wheat-colored, corkscrew curls that were as beautiful and wild as her soul, she carried a light that people naturally gravitated toward. Her calm, gentle spirit made people – and especially animals – feel safe and loved. Julia never met a creature she didn’t love and carried a kindness and compassion beyond her years.
Julia had a wonderful, and sneaky, sense of humor that caught most adults off guard. She never worried about fitting in and simply stated – she liked what she liked, whether that was macaroni and cheese, goldfish crackers, frozen Cokes, making dragon and cat masks, or collecting treasures. She loved having her friends over and was always excited to go anywhere with them. Sleepovers usually meant staying up way too late, nonstop laughing, and hearing giggles drift out of her bedroom long after bedtime.
Julia spent a little more time in the woods hunting or on a boat fishing with her father than she may have preferred. But a few hot dogs and a Coke from Coopers Country Store or Hunt Brothers Pizza and Rap Snacks from 52 Station, and she was ready to roll. After a successful trip, she would say, “Call some friends because we got dinner!”
A lifelong lover of horses, some of her happiest days were spent at the farm with her beloved Paso Fino pony, Phantom. She loved drawing, sketching, reading, and writing and could often be found in her room with paper and pencils nearby, lost in the creation of something beautiful. More recently, she loved to sit quietly in the woods listening to nature and sketching whatever captured her heart.
She shared a special bond with her little brother and had many deeply cherished friends at school. Julia would want to be remembered for being kind. She lived with a gentle heart, loved deeply, created freely and cared for others without even trying. Above all else, Julia loved her family and was loved by them beyond measure. Though her time with them was short, she was surrounded by love and spent her days doing the things she loved with the people she loved. Julia is survived by her loving parents, Mark Bird Tims and Kessie Lorick Tims; her little brother, Tillman Bird Tims; her maternal grandmother, Winona Sox Rhame; her maternal step grandfather, Dr. Robert W. Rhame, Jr.; her maternal aunts, Andrea (Michael) Keister and Erin (Walton) Pesavento; her paternal aunt, Kathryn Tims; her paternal uncle, Will (Amanda) Tims; bonus aunt, Ellen (Robbie) Pottharst; bonus uncle, Robert (Dawn) Rhame; her beloved cousins, Cole and Bennett Onufrak, Elijah and Rowan Pesavento, and Benjamin Keister; and bonus cousins, Virginia and Amelia Rhame, and Rob and Libbi Pottharst; along with many extended family members and friends who were blessed to know and love her. Julia was welcomed into heaven by her paternal grandparents, Clark and Kaye Tims, and her maternal grandfather, Wade C. Lorick, Jr.
