Funeral Services

Graveside funeral services will be 10 AM, Saturday, August 8, 2020, in McKnight Cemetery near Lane.Due to Covid -19, all safety precautions will be taken so please socially distance and wear a mask. 

Visitation

Lattie’s family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Friday, August 7, 2020, at Williamsburg Funeral Home in Kingstree Due to Covid -19, all safety precautions will be taken so please socially distance and wear a mask.

Lattie Mae Kelty, 72, died Sunday, August 2, 2020, at her home in Lane after a brief illness.

Ms. Kelty was born November 26, 1947, in Lane, SC, a daughter of the late Dow Brunson and Letha Dukes Kelty. She attended Williamsburg County Schools and after her mother died at a young age, Lattie moved to Philadelphia to live with her older sister. There she worked at Procacci Brothers Produce and then at Joe’s Cheesesteak and Hoagies for several years. After coming back to Lane, Lattie started keeping house and babysitting to help raise her sons. She helped numerous families in Williamsburg County, becoming an indispensable part of the family and raising their children too. Lattie’s love for others, especially children, didn’t end there. She kept her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, grandchildren and even great grandchildren well into her golden years. Lattie was a member of Bethel AME Church in the Gourdin area of Williamsburg County, where she was a member of the Usher Board and the Kitchen Committee.

Surviving Ms. Kelty are her 2 sons, Vincent (Karen) Kelty of Lane and John Robinson of Charlotte; 10 grandchildren, Vanessa (Kenneth) Samuels, Shaneka Pendergrass, Chiquita (Frank) Woods, Dajuan (Shakaylia) Samuels, Janaya Robinson, Heidi (Miguel) Wilson, Javian Robinson, Kaywine (Christa) Giles, Anthony Robinson, and Chris (Kendra) Barr; 20 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Leola Kelty, of Baltimore, Burdell Kelty of Lane, and Margaretha (William) Gibson of Philadelphia; brother, John Brunson of Greensboro, NC; and brother-in-law, Lonnie Murray of New York City; special cousins, Fannie Brunson and Florine Brunson, both of Lane; God son, Jonas Bernard Brunson of Lane; several beloved cousins who were like siblings; and other family and friends who Lattie treasured dearly. In addition to her parents, Lattie was preceded in death by sisters, Flossie Miller, Kellie Murray, and Anna Belle Thompson and brothers, John Kelty, Robert Jr. Kelty, Roy Lee Kelty, Herbert Lee Kelty, and Leon Brunson.
