Private graveside funeral services will be Monday, November 9, 2020, in Mount Hope Cemetery in Greeleyville, SC.
Visitation
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 9, 2020, from 12 noon until 1:30PM at the funeral home.

Lorena Cook James, 78, wife of Douglas “Doug” Austin James, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 6, 2020, at her residence in North.
Mrs. James was born April 18, 1942 in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late William Joseph Cook and Gwendolyn Terrell Cook. She was a graduate of Greeleyville High School, Coker College with a degree in Sociology and the University of South Carolina with a degree in Graphic Design. Lorena remained a dedicated alumnus and active volunteer for Coker College until her health declined. She worked for the Veteran’s Administration for several years, then afterward worked for Newman Saylor and Gregory as a Graphic Designer. Lorena was a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Columbia, where she was very active in her circle.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 55 years, Doug, are: a daughter, Kelly James (Kyle) Draganov, of James Island; a son, Bryan Douglas James, of North; a granddaughter, Isabella Draganov, of James Island; and a brother, Joseph Terrell Cook, of Matthews, NC.
Private graveside services will be held in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Greeleyville. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 9, 2020, from 12 noon until 1:30PM at the funeral home. So sorry about Lorena, Doug. I have many regrets about not seeing more of her over these years. You all will be in my prayers.
No words can even come close to expressing how it feels when you lose someone you love. Lorena was loved by so many. She was a dear friend to me. Please know that you all are thought of with friendship and caring. My prayers will be with you in the days to come.
Doug, Kelly, Bryan, Isabella, and Terrel: I am so sorry for this earth’s loss of Lorena. We were teenage friends for years as UMC youth groups meeting together with other groups from Kingstree, Greeleyville and nearby towns. Your wife, mother, sister, and grandmother was one of the nicest and kindest young ladies of the group and I’m sure you closely observed that in your time together. I regret I will not be able to be in Kingstree at visitation but I will be thinking of you all. I am confident that while the days ahead will often be hard I hope you take pride in knowing what a beautiful person she was and the graciousness she shared with all who had the priviledge of knowing her.
Lorena was a lifelong precious special friend……………she will always be loved and missed so much!!

My deepest sympathy to all. Lorena and I were on the alumni board for several years at Coker. Just the most wonderful and delightful individual I have known.
Lorena was a classmate at Coker. I remember well the visitation weekend we had at Coker in the Spring of 1960. I drove to Coker and met her that weekend. In fact, she rode with me back to Lake City and her Mother picked her up in Lake City on Sunday. She was a very special person. Beautiful and very capable. She made her mark at Coker and will long be remembered as the top student in our graduating class in 1964. Doug brought her to a Coker meeting a couple of years ago and it was so nice seeing her. It was so sad that she did not really know any of us. I feel for Doug and the family. Know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless.
Lorena was a special “coker nut” and friend to me at Coker,She was an elegant “lady” and I was so honored to have known her.We had so much fun and made many memories.Many thoughts and prayers are with the family.May God bless each of you>

Lorena was absolutely the quintessential lady. She was beautiful, gracious, thoughtful, dependable, friendly & had an incredible love for Jesus & her family. She was my inspiration to organize our family research that I have gladly shared with many.
Lorena was a special friend from Coker days. She was a beautiful person inside and out, and I have missed our correspondence in recent times. My prayers and sympathy to you, Doug, and to all the family. Oh…how she loved each and every one of you.
